Best soul food in town. I visited Military Circle Mall today to do some shopping and I got hungry so I decided to stop by the food court to see what they had since I had not been in that mall in years. I came across a restaurant called Aunt Dorian’s. So I tasted what the sampler gave me and it was a sweet and spicy chicken breast. It was marvelous so I decided to eat there. I ordered honey barbecue chicken green beans mac and cheese a side order of candied yams a roll and Kool-Aid yes I said it kool-Aid I mean the best drink in town. I also ordered a slice of lemon cake. So I sat down in the food court to eat and I watched the line with nonstop customers. I had no idea that real food was in a mall. The best mac and cheese I have ever tasted the green beans tasted like my moms and the chicken was out of this world. This place is keeping a lot of happy customers, because every one that came to the line was smiling and laughing with the staff, who by the way was fast friendly and efficient. So now I can say this place will be added to my list of places of eat. The price was very reasonable try it you might just like it I did.
So you want some Southern/Soul style food, made by those with soul rather than the big corporate tie wearing chain director….? Welcome to Aunt Dorian’s! Chicken, pork chops and wings with all the fixin’s the soul can handle.. greens, cornbread, green beans, sweet potatoes, rice and cabbage. Top that off with some homemade cake, oh yeah. Need to get some shopping done? Head out to their Lynnhaven Mall Food Court location… makes even the most stressful wife accompanying visit enjoyable. * personal menu during my visits: greens/green beans, sweet potatoes and sweet/spicey BBQ chicken w/ a piece of cornbread. I top this off with lemon cake.
Those sweet n spicy wings. If this is the same aunt dorian’s that’s at lynnhaven mall in virginia beach, va, then they get a BIG smile. so… i was at the mall with my two sons who are 8 and under and usually eat mcdonald’s. of course, i was tired of eating mcdonald’s. i walked around the food court and there was a li’l asian woman with a plate of samples and toothpicks. i tried and loved whatever chicken it was. i assumed it was chinese food. i assumed WRONG. the chicken came from aunt dorian’s, a southern soulfood joint. the chicken actually came from wings. they were like regular fried chicken wings with the flour covering, but with the perfect blend of what tasted like hot sauce, honey, and something else… or maybe hot sauce and honey was it? whatever the sauce was… i was HOOKED. i bought like 10 to start with. i ate 2, and brought the rest home to my honey. the boys also had a sample wing each. we’ve been faithful sweet n spicy wing customers ever since.
