Company Policy. The diner was clean, and the young lady working the register quite well mannered. My husband enjoyed the fried gizzards. They were seasoned well and cooked at the correct temperature, and were not sodden with grease. However my order of meatloaf with macaroni and cheese, greens were a matter of great concern. The meatloaf was under cooked, partially raw. The side orders were bland and not served at the correct temperature for hot foods, lukewarm. Obviously temps were not checked after reheating. Also when l explained to situation to the staff regarding the meatloaf l was told company policy does not allow for refunds, but l could order another entre, and the fact one mouthful of mac and cheese, and two of the greens they would not refund any money for the sides. I truly am discussed, that l had to strongly disagree and defend my stance concerning this matter especially since, l understand this was human error that began when the meatloaf was cooked and the temperature was not checked, and also before serving for customer consumption. Standards set in place simply were not followed. Only after much discussion was l refunded for the food. I personally never eat something at a restaurant if l have to send the food back. Lukewarm vegetables l can deal with, but never under cooked hamburger meat, this is definitely an appetite killer in every sense of the word.
Horrible luncheon for employees 12/3/14. Fried chicken luncheon given to State employees was horrible! Chicken overcooked, potatoe salad horrible, baked beans watery and some little roll in a zip lock bag.I would never, ever eat there again!
Great Soulfood spot.. I had Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, cabbage, fried okra, and a few chicken wings.. (no I didn’t eat it at all one time lol) this was my first time here and I can’t wait to go back.the service was great, food came out quickly, the portions and the prices are responsible. I’d definitely recommend Martin’s.
I’ve had much better. We went in to get turkey chops. They were not on the lunch menu, so I was offered pork chops. Not everyone eats pork. I ended up getting the fried wings, mac & cheese and collards. The wings were not cooked enough for me. When I break the wing apart it should not be pink. The mac & cheese did not taste like it had any cheese. The worse was the collards. Obviously came from a can. They were chopped up with the stems and they tasted like a can. If you are going to serve can greens, at least put some seasoning in them so they do not taste like a can. I paid over 8.00 for lunch and it was terrible. In my opinion this is not soul food. Authentic soul food is good. the kind your mama and grandma use to cook. Believe me. This is not it.
