Good food!. The food and all of the traditional sides are great. There’s this soy bean side that is super delicious, you don’t want to miss it. Also try the haemul paejeon…it’s a pancake-like appetizer, but nothing crazy in it for first time goers. This is a pretty authentic experience, with all of the quirks!Oh and to the guy who reviewed the restaurant and thinks its Chinese-owned. It’s not. It’s a 100% KOREAN, woman-owned, home style restaurant. Just an FYI.

Food tastes good but very rude service. If you’re sitting next to a Korean party, you can really tell a drastic difference in the level of service. The elderly lady is especially rude and frowns and complains when you ask for anything. Go to Asahi, much better!
Going downhill… I’ve been here no less than 15 times and this business must be hurting because the service has really gone bad. They cut any corner possible and try to charge extra for white rice and saying if we ordered more food, we wouldn’t have to pay for the rice. $80 for 3 adults and 2 kids wasn’t enough for another bowl of white rice? You’ve seen my face the last time Norfolk Garden. Goodbye.
Amazing food with a wide variety of flavors, and an attentive staff. You get a lot of food for your money and the atmosphere is terrific. The best place I’ve eaten at in years.
Best Korean/Japanese food in Va Bch area. I’ve been to Korea and lived in Japan. I LOVE the food and staff at Norfolk Garden. It’s not an intimate atmosphere, but it is very clean, the food is authentic, delicious, well priced, and served by a wonderful, kind, patient staff. My parents, who have traveled the world were very impressed and we go back every time they come for a visit. If you are unsure of Korean food, try the bulgogi (marinated, grilled meat served with rice, lettuce leaves, and kochujang (sesame and chili paste) – warp the meat, kochujang, and rice in the lettuce leaves – outstanding! The chopchae is a noodle dish that those leery of trying new foods are likely to enjoy. Be sure to ask about spiciness when ordering, Koreans use a lot of chili peppers! The little side dishes served before the meal are varied and fun to try. It is also very child friendly. When my grandson (4yrs old) was refusing to eat the server brought him his soda in a tiny glass on a plate which delighted him and changed his whole attitude. He loves it there now. I also made arrangements to bring a group of students and teachers for an early dinner. Even the 4th graders kid loved it (try the bulgogi and chopchae for kids & adults).
Best of Hampton Roads. Of all the Korean restaurants I have tried in Hampton Roads, I must say Norfolk Garden is the best. I am Korean and was raised eating food that my mother cooked daily. After moving to Virginia Beach 2 years ago, I could not find a Korean restaurant that satisfied my taste buds. That all changed a week ago. The side dishes are plentiful, the service is quick and friendly, and most importantly the food is delicious. I would definitely recommend them!
