Mediocre at best. I visited the just open branch on W. Cary Street today, and it was a big disappointment. I have to agree with the reviewer who wrote that the salsa tasted like marinara sauce, as she is exactly correct. Thick and sweet. Yuck! I got a vegetarian taco, which consisted of pinto beans which were not at all seasoned, on a corn tortilla with some shredded cheese, lettuce and very bland guacamole. My husband’s chicken burrito also lacked seasoning and flavor, and had that Ragu salsa on it. The only thing we liked was the chips. Very disappointing!
Best lunch spot downtown. I haven’t found a better value for a quick lunchtime bite. The food is healthy, vegetarian friendly and the restaurant is locally owned. Look for the blue awning. Very busy pedestrian crowd at lunch (no parking).
Best mexican in downtown. Can’t think of a better place to get better mexican at lunch time in downtown Richmond.
Good, simple, Mexican food. I wouldn’t necessarily seek Cafe Ole out for lunch, but if you are in the neighborhood, it is a great choice. I’ll certainly be returning.
Mexican Lunch. This is a mom & pop joint similar to Qdoba, Baja Fresh, Moe’s or Chipotle. Definitely better than any Moe’s or Chipotle. Everything made fresh. Long line at 12 noon. It is worth it!Open only 11 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday thorugh Friday.
The perfect vegetarian quesadilla. Cafe Ole makes the best quesadillas. Try the black bean quesadilla. I tried it once and it’s all I ever get. Delicious.
