Small place with a large heart. Dont let the rustic looks of this place or its small size fool you. You can always have a good quality meal at Cafe Rustica, in an eccentric, kind of European setting. Whatever it is, it always fulfills my gourmet needs. The Mediterranean short stack is a great way to begin your meal, followed by some soup or pasta. Whether it be the bread, or the wine selection, it is always a place I must come back to, that is, if my wallet allows me to of course.
Great evening, great food. We needed a restaurant UR and VCU graduation weekend. Our usual haunts were booked, so we started searching the Web and stumbled on Cafe Rustica. The place is tiny and our reservation time was delayed by a party celebrating a birthday. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a drink. The wait for our table was worth every second. The six of us have varied tastes, so we ate from all corners of the menu – salmon to German meatloaf. We shared appetizers, sampled desserts and coffee. The tab was more than fair for the quality of what we ate. We have eaten at several higher-ranked restaurants in Richmond – Cafe Rustica can proudly take its place among them.
