Julep’s is elegant. The menu features seasonal and timeless items that may surprise you, wild boar for instance. However, every entree is delicious and the dining experience is luxurious. However delicious the entrees may be, I am more in love with their appetizers. You seriously can’t miss the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese or the mussels. They would certainly be on the list of best things I ever ate. If you are able to save some room, order some bananas Foster. Prepared by your table, it is a flaming spectacle that will make you the envy of the entire restaurant. As the name would suggest, Julep’s is also an excellent place to enjoy a quality cocktail. This is probably my favorite place to eat in Richmond.

Julep’s is fine dining. Table cloths, servers with white shirts and ties. Extensive wine menu and since the new chef this past summer, more fish choices on the menu. It’s nice to be able to sit at the bar and have a drink now, then have dinner. This is my favorite restaurant and one of the few places I go that serves veuve clicquot. Whatever is seasonal I eat, except I always get the oysters no matter what time of year. The crab cakes are the best in Richmond. If you have the opportunity go in a big group and sit up front in the window.

This is a solid restaurant, where the food and service are consistently great. The new location is a little bit of a downer for me, since I think they’ve lost the warmth and charm they had. Parking has also become more difficult with the location change.
