I went here all the time when I lived in Richmond from 1995-2005. Earliest happy hour and latest last call in the Fan. Always order the specials; they are amazing! Whenever I’m in town I always stop by.
Diverse Menu and Pleasant Service. In the past, I frequented Bamboo latenight for drinks (latest last call in town!) Recently, we chose to actually dine here. In addition to their standard menu, Bamboo offers a daily specials menu. I really love their specials because they offer several choices in the soup, appetizer and entree sections. For my entree I chose a special, roasted salmon filet topped with a bacon and artichoke compote accompanied by garlic green beans. The salmon was roasted perfectly. The bacon artichoke compote was soooo delicious! It was a surprisingly wonder alternative to the standard caper and lemon most restaurants pair with salmon. I hope they feature this special again! Service is prompt and friendly. That particular night was a Monday and the bar offered $4 margaritas in a variety of flavors including Prickly Pear. Not what you would expect at this place but they were affordable and tasty too.
I think I genuinely could have enjoyed a Sunday morning brunch here but I just couldn’t get past the smell of human urine. Really. My sister and I were suspect of the air purifier in the entrance; unfortunately the smell made us leave.
Great eggplant appetizer.
Our Favorite. This is our dining room, and for good reason. The food is consistently good, and I have many allergies, yet they are more than willing to cater to them and I have plenty of options. My boyfriend and I feel very welcome there and would recommend it to anyone who wants a fantastic meal, at a more than fantastic price. Most importantly, we’re both bartenders, so a late-night menu option is crucial. The bourbon and whatever you please is delicious and the wine and beer list are the same.
Great food, cheap wine–What’s better than that?. I had driven past this place hundreds of times and never ventured in or gave it a second glance. However, last week I wanted to try something new and Bamboo Cafe popped in my head. I’m so glad that it did.We immediately got seats in the small establishment. I liked how it was set up–no frills just a little place to get some grub. We were delighted to hear that the wines ranged from $5-7, and were very yummy. I was happy with my inexpensive Pinot Noir. I loved my meal of Atlantic Salmon Oscar. It came with two great sized sides–steamed asparagus and creamed Parmesan cauliflower. The whole meal was very satisfying and tasty, and came out promptly. I will definitely return to Bamboo Cafe for future meals. I’m glad that I found a new place to add to my list of Richmond eateries. eatdrinkrva.blogspot.com
