Dr. G. Terrible fake Mexican food made of cheap ingredients. The service is awful too. Yes, it’s a bar more than a restaurant but the drinks are weak and overpriced, so the bar part sucks too. Stay away….far away.

Awful lunch. Terrible food. You would expect the lunch specials to be top notch, but seriously the enchiladas sucked. Server couldn’t keep beverages straight. There are many better places for lunch, so don’t waste your time or money here.

Bar food. I frequent this place pretty often. I like the night time atmosphere and usually go to have a few drinks but went for dinner the other night. The food isn’t what will bring me back, it’s the location and atmosphere. Like other reviewers have mentioned, it’s just bar food with a mexican twist. Okay, but nothing to write home about.

Average food, bar atmosphere.. Not to beat a dead horse, but Banditos is a bar. We went there beacause we had a Groupon, which wasn’t good for alcohol. Therefor, I need to review this as if it was a restaurant since that was what brought us ot the place. The menu is very extensive. Haveing said that, the items are a little more expensive than what you would find at any of Richmond’s many Mexican restaurants. So then, the question would be is one paying for atmosphere? If that is the case, Bandito’s is a bar. Looks like a cool, funky bar, but a bar nonetheless. The food is ok, but there are other restaurants that have the same type of menu with much better food. So, the bottom line, if you want ok food in a bar atmosphere, Banditos is fine. If you are looking for very good Mexican food, I would go elsewhere.

Taco Bell tastes Better. If your friends ever try to lure you to Bandito’s under the guise of ‘Let’s get dinner there’, you have sh*t friends. Your friends suck and can’t like you very much, or they’re stupid. Either way. Bandito’s is not a restaurant. Let me say that again: Bandito’s is NOT A RESTAURANT. Bandito’s is a bar–as evidenced by the term ‘lounge’ (Because the seating certainly doesn’t allow for this)–and like all bars, they are required by VABC to sell a certain amount of food to keep their liquior lisence. And, have you ever heard the term ‘bar food’? ‘Bar food’ translates into ‘completely average, if you’re lucky, and smells like ciggerates’. Every bar serves food–yes, even strip bars and clubs. Why? They HAVE to. Don’t ever walk into a place with a large bar and expect great food. You won’t get it. Needless to say, Bandito’s Mexican fare left a hell of a lot to be desired; Mostly seasoning. Food also takes a long time to get to you, allowing you plenty of time to get nice and drunk, which is the only way the food seems half appealing or decent. To be fair, I even tried a burger off the menu, and the kitchen/waitress/someone managed to screw up the order during the three foot walk from my table to the kitchen. Like the taco meat, the beef wasn’t seasoned. These guys seem to be opening a package if ground beef, frying it up, and calling it done. Compared, Taco Bell has far better tasting food, and Taco Bell doesn’t even used 100% beef–they’re being sued by Alabama at current for failing to meet the beef-to-filler ratio that is required before a restaurant can call what they serve ‘beef’ (Which is why the names of the dishes at Taco Bell are all the ‘100% Real Beef Taco’–it’s not an ingredient, it’s a legal trick–it’s just the name of the dish!) Not to mention, it’s cheaper and a lot faster to get served. If someone, anyone, invites you out to Bandito’s, saying the food is so great or whatever, they want to drink with you. If they insist the food is super awesome, they have a drinking problem and need help. Also, while Bandito’s boasts the interior bar design from ‘Dawn of the Dead’, that’s the whole cool factor. There’s live music and dancing. . .in a completely separate ‘room’ in the place (Making one wonder why the bar isn’t in there, until you realize they don’t give a sh*t about food.) The music is usually local, and southern rock. Yee-haw. Sadly, within this area, Bandito’s is probably the best bar; It has ample parking and space inside, and is geared toward the 20-something crowd (Unlike the other local bars that are aimed a little older.) But keep in mind that if you steal spots around the local neighborhood, you may end up towed; People do live on the same block as Bandito’s, and the patrons from this and other bars love to suck up spots up and down Patterson, meaning if you live in the area, don’t drive anywhere Friday or Saturday if you want to park within a mile. At the same time, if you want to frequent the bars, your best bet (The most considerate and intelligent) is to use a taxi to get to and from. Driving your car just means you’ll have to park it and somehow get it back, so do everyone a favor and leave it at home. It really helps prevent DUIs. There’s a fantastic taxi service called Napoleon Taxi, the fastest in Richmond, and they always have cabs in the area.

Great shrimp tacos!. Good tex-mex in a fun bar atmosphere – it’s nice when the weather cooperates and they can roll up the front garage doors.
