Good neighborhood food. We eat here frequently for both lunch and dinner and have yet to be disappointed. Whether it’s hot dogs or steak, it’s always good, served by friendly people. Consistency in restaurants is a rarity these days, but the Franklin Inn nails it every time.
The drinks are weak. The food at Franklin Inn is good, fairly consistent in quality, but the bar is disappointing. I was way overcharged for the wateriest vodka martini ever. First, it was served on ice, I asked for straight. The server realized it before I said anything and took it back. Problem is the ice was just strained and the drink was put into a glass twice the size of the liquid in the glass. So it looked like I had half a drink. By this point I was just thirsty, but then commented and was told, ‘it was the glass’ . Well the price matched the size of the glass, not the drink. Not cool and I was not offered a new drink. This wasn’t my first visit but may have been my last. A customers concern should be addressed. They had a couple of chances to make it right and didn’t.
Cozy Neighborhood Place. I live about 6 blocks from Franklin Inn and am happy to have a good option in that relatively quiet part of the Museum District. Food is consistently good, atmosphere charming and the staff always friendly. The owners wanted to establish the feel of a neighborhood place and have succeeded well. Will be a regular there.
Loved it! *Update* It’s okay.. Very cozy and a great atmosphere. Our food was really good, and our server was friendly and capable. Will be back! *UPDATE* We went here again, and the food/waitress just weren’t as impressive the second time. Cute place, I like the atmosphere, the food is fine, but I don’t have that ‘I can’t wait to go back’ feeling anymore.
Stumbled upon this place after geocaching across the street. Tasty lunch, decent prices, friendly service, and quaint setting! I would come back, but I would be cautious as to what days or peak times because there is so little seating.
What happened?. Went the other night with a friend and was struck by a whole different feel to the place. The cliental was mostly very young and at the bar. No one eating. My friend had a negative experience there over the summer and was hoping this night would be better. Once again It was clear the bartender does not know her stuff. Maybe she is an owner or related to an owner so can get away with it! I was not very hungry so ordered a burger which was fine. Friend ordered crab cakes. The veggies were good but the cakes had too much filler and cold mashed potatoes. Service was overal disinterested. By the time we left only one table of two had arrived. Has word spread? So many other choices in Richmond so I guess neither of us will return. Shame …. It had gotten off to such a nice start.
YUM!. My boyfriend and I checked this place out a few weeks ago and I enjoyed it enough to write about it this long afterward, if that tells you anything. Had a delicious crabcake sandwich with a side of mixed veggies. I believe they were grilled or sauteed squash, zucchini, and onions and whatever they were seasoned with made them AMAZING! Prices reasonable and great service too!
