Amazing pizza – always a favorite place for dinner. Eggplant parmigiana and the grandma pizza or one of my favorite things to eat. I highly recommend Stuzzi!
First, the service wasn’t spectacular. The server never once offered to refill drinks and was clearly over his head in tables. Next, the pizza, was just ok. Really not great. The bread is too doughy and chewy and no crisp at all. When ordering a margerita pizza you’d expect fresh cut dotted mozzarella but instead it was covered in what tasted like chain pizza mozzarella from Dominos. Really not that good. I also ordered calamari which the server had highly suggested. When I realized that I couldn’t get through more than a few bites, because let’s face it calamari is not supposed to be overly chewy, the owner came over and started embarrassing himself by arguing over his belief that it wasn’t frozen but fresh. I didn’t buy that at all. First tip, don’t argue with your customers, raise your voice and embarrass yourself in front of your other guests. You will receive comments like this and loose business. We won’t be returning.
Tonight we dined at Stuzzi’s and we were looking forward to good pizza. Unfortunately the service and food fell flat. The service here is not usually great but tonight it was pretty bad. We had to ask for plates to eat on, refills, etc and had to ask multiple times just to get what we wanted once. The mozzarella fritta tasted off and the sauce was cold. The pizza had little sauce, little flavor and was doughy. Don’t think we will return again.
At Stuzzi tonight and was shock at the atmosphere and the owner yelling across the restaurant at his wait staff. We sat at the bar and were served by a new bartender who may have had the most disorganized bar I’ve ever seen. Empty glasses ever where with used the plates and napkins strung all over the bar too. We desired not to eat because of the thirty conditions, walked out after one drink. This place is dis functional and will never go again. I was told that most of the staff has quite because of the owner and the way he handles personal… I can see that! Sorry, Sorry place.
The white pizza was great also had the chicken and arugula sandwich and the bread was delicious. Everything was very fresh and the service was good.
Very well built pizza. Just the right combo of fresh and interesting ingredients. Consistently the best I’ve experienced in RVA, tho Christian’s is a close second. Thin crusts are all perfect. If you get there before 7, you won’t have to wait 2 hours.
Our family loves Stuzzi!. This is our go to place for weekend lunch, the owner is usually there and has great customer rapport. The pizza is Napoli style which is NOT what most pizza is in America so don’t go there expecting a regular American New York Style pizza, if you want that go to 8 1/2 or Capriccios. I personally love the margarita pizza, but the pasta is dynamite too. Best Rigatoni Vodka I have ever had! my only complaint is that they took the fried risotto app off the menu.
