Oddly enough, the food is better here than you'd think it is. Pretty good food for a sports bar in the DC area. I've tried various dishes too. A waite…

Hosted an event last week and our server Sam had a terrible attitude and often disappeared for minutes at a time. We have had Sam as a server before and the service was just the same. No Zest at all in his attitude as if he was doing us a favor. When asked to see a manager, I was informed they were all busy. Not sure if that is protocol but I found it to be unprofessional. When working in the service industry, especially the bar area, you should expect to be dealing with all types of personalities and a smile does go a long way.
Baby’s got back (ribs). See my last photo of a $20 full rack of baby back ribs: the serving size is huge!! The ribs and sauce are outstanding -moist, melt in the mouth, flavoursome with large bits of caramelised sauce-, the waffle fries have the perfect crispy/softness balance and no overpowering chicken salt, and the large side of coleslaw is fresh and crunchy. Ive seen this Champps venue getting better and better over the years, its now my preferred sports bar in DC.01 Oct, 2012Fantastic sports bar. Wanting to see an English Premier League game on Saturday, I chanced on Champps near the Pentagon City mall. They were fantastic, with so many large and standard screens throughout the venue, they got my game played on a screen of my choice. Food was good for this type of venue. The $15.95 half rack of short ribs was enjoyable; the sides were not bad, OK coleslaw and not bad waffle fries if a bit heavy on chicken salt. I also got the $6.95 dessert sampler, with NY cheesecake, chocolate cake and cookie and ice cream. The cookie was stale, the rest was not bad. With a good mixed berries iced tea I had a great time (even with my team losing).
Nice place. This isn’t fine dinning, so if that is what you are looking for, go elsewhere. However, if you want some traditional American cuisine with no frills, this is your place in the Pentagon City area. The service is always very nice and accommodating. The music can be a little too loud at times, but they have TV’s everywhere for sporting events. The food is consistently good and it is all for a decent price. I recommend it for a casual meal if you happen to be in the area.
An employee of the Lids store in the mall recommended my family go here for dinner. It was actually pretty good but service was a little slow. Pretty much exactly what you would expect from a sports bar. The waffle fries were good though.
Right size TVs are here!. 4 huge screen TVs and 15 or more 40-50 inch screen TVs are here. This is a great place to watch games. The food was pretty good actually. The fried calamari was very good and the Kobe Beef sliders were really delicious.
Lunch disaster. I wanted to get out of the office and have lunch, so I stopped at Champps at Pentagon Row. I had the worst ahi tuna salad. The lettuce was at least 2 days old and the tuna had absolutely no taste. The sauce was good, so I soaked the ahi tuna in that to at least eat enough to become full. I couldn’t believe that they actually served that entree to me. I didn’t tell the waiter because it took so long to get it, I didn’t have time to get a second order. No more dining at Champps.
Saturday 25 October 2008. My girl and I had dinner at Champps Americana this evening at around 5:00 p.m. We had the Calamari appetizer and I had the Traditional Gyro and my babe had the French Onion Soup. Initially, we asked for utensils and got dirty utensils wrapped around wet napkins. Our main meals took a little while to get to us but normally I wouldn’t mind that as long as the food is good and well prepared. The gyro was tasty. I have no complaints with the gyro. As for my girls french onion soup, she was not too pleased. When she almost got to bottom of the bowl She scooped up a bunch of burnt pulled pork. At first she thought it may had been over cooked onions but after tasting it she realized that it was burnt pulled pork. I frequent this restaurant and I never had a problem during lunch time; however if this is how dinner service is, I will never return.
