Kahlua Pig Roll. Amazing.16 Feb, 2015Bread Pudding. I don’t usually order bread pudding, but tried it at our server’s recommendation. It was decadent.16 Feb, 2015Wonderful Valentine’s Day. The location was great. We left the Ritz-Carlton, walked under the road past the metro, through the mall, and around Costco (all well-lit, populated areas) to get there. The wind picked up right before we entered and we blew in from the cold to a very cozy, warm restaurant that smelled so good. The hostess gave me a rose for Valentine’s Day. Service was great. We had the kahlua pig rolls to start, photo included. We are still talking about this dish days later. Best kahlua pork we have had, and we just moved from Honolulu in June. Then I had a chopped salad and the special (Ny Strip) with a glass of Malbec and my husband had the brisket and pancetta mac. Really good food. For dessert we had the bread pudding a la mode. It was huge, and I’m glad we shared it. Portion sizes for everything were perfect for a special dinner. We left with full and happy. Atmosphere was wonderfully warm. Volume in the place was just right for conversation.

Bring back the collard greens. When they first opened…they served collared greens. This is what piqued my interest along with the Bbq ribs.need to keep the basics daily for smoked meats…collared greens, coleslaw & grill – smoked meats not boiled. Curious as to why they keep their bread outside? Is this for a rescue or homeless shelter?

Great food / great atmosphere. I love the beer belly chicken. Good portion, juicy and full of flavor. They had a special of Blackened Scallops over Gnocchi w/ Parmesan Cream Sauce – this was absolutely amazing! I think they should add this to the regular menu. Brisket is yummy too! Don’t forget to wash it down with one of their signature drinks!

Overpriced. Very few patrons at prime time lunch hour. Brisket was decent, but had too much fat and only came with two slices. Fried asparagus was very good. Bread pudding is over sized and much too sweet – avoid it. Service was incredibly slow. Disappointing.

Poor Attempt. As a resident of Virginia I was excited to see a new smokehouse in the Crystal City area. As many people in the area I concider myself an authority on BBQ and have spent years with my various smokers.I wanted to try a spectrum of dishes from this establishment so I ordered a starter of the Chili, the Smokehouse sampler, and the mac & cheese. I was sorely disappointed and will point out what I thought below.Chili : Actually good. This dish contained a mixture of the house pork and beef. A little sweet with a tangy after taste.Brisquet : They should be ashamed of themselves. They do not smoke the meet and it tastes like it was boiled. No flavor to speek of and fatty.Ribs : Good flavor. Be warned they are short ribs and have very little meat.Chicken : Again, boiled. Very little flavor.Mac & Cheese : Unusual flavor. They use 5 cheeses and what looks life ham. Not bad, but may take some getting use to.If you are looking for BBQ do NOT go to this restaurant. You will be disappointed at the flavor of the food and the quality.

AMAZING food. Epic is a brilliant smokehouse. This is our new favorite place and we are total DC foodies. To start, we had the Bacon App (pork belly with a spin), entrees Duroc Pork (pork loin with a mild peppery crust and a faint hint of something like coffee) and Brisket. All three plates were practically licked. The kicker was dessert – a chocolate cupcake with small bits of soft bacon throughout with a maple brown sugar icing and topped with sugared hot peppered bacon. Heaven! Ask for Dan C. as your server. No, this is not your backyard BBQ place, but why on earth would you want that in Pentagon City? We have enough annoying chain restaurants. Welcome Epic!
