Good beer and pub grub!
Sine’s Irish Pub. I ate here on St. Patrick’s with a dining companion for lunch. Upon entering the restaurant we were quoted with a 20 minute wait time which I did not think was too bad, especially seeing how it was St. Patrick’s Day. While waiting for our table we decided to get drinks and I was waited on fairly quickly. Right before I was able to pay our buzzer went off and so we were seated in under ten minutes. Since we were seated I gave the bartender my credit card and told her to close it out. You can imagine my surprise when she showed a minute later with a receipt which I promptly signed only to find that the card underneath was not my card. How she managed to switch cards in the time it took to ring out I am not so sure. Finally after five minutes of trying to get her attention I was able to get my card and a proper receipt back. At that point I was able to notice the surroundings of the restaurant which were mostly wood in a dark aesthetically pleasing color. My dining companion and I decided to start out with the spicy fried calamari. The calamari ended up being really good with a nice light breaded coating that did not cover up the taste of the calamari mixed with an assortment of peppers and some very tasty garlic aioli on the side. For my entree I decided on the Guinness BBQ Chicken Sandwich and my dining companion had the Greek hummus pita. My sandwich was good and well proportioned with a generous serving of moist chicken on it that caused it to be somewhat messy but that is not something that I would complain about. The BBQ sauce tasted good but I could not taste any hint of the Guinness that was supposed to be a part of it. My dining companion enjoyed her pita since she was looking for a light meal. The bottom line for me is that I would probably come back in the future, especially for a St. Patrick’s Day. Other than the credit card kerfuffle, the service was good and the food tasted good and was affordable priced.
My corn beef and cabbage was just ok. I’ve had much better. The kids eat free on sat and sun with an adult meal but that was not brought to our attention til after we were brought the check. It would have been nice to know in advance since my son ordered a side salad instead. The place is nothing special. If it’s any indicator, the place was dead on a sat night.
Needs redecorating. Had the fish and chips ($11) and while the fish was tasty it was a bit dry. I found the coleslaw on the side to be inedible. My biggest peeve about the place is the secluded tables. The partitions are so high we couldn’t see anything at all.
So-So. Service was fast but waitress was not friendly, even borderline condescending. The bangers and mash was dry and not good. Burger was also dry and way overdone. The beef and Guinness stew was actually good, though the bread they served with it was bland. Guinness on draft was delicious. Overall, skip it if you are going for just food.
Oh, Danny Boy…this place sucks!. This place is terrible. It smells as if it has not been cleaned in quite some time, specifically it smells like their walk-in refrigeration has not been cleaned. It was the worst Reuben sandwich that I have ever had. I am not sure whether they know how to make a Reuben but it included assorted meats, of which the roast beef was nearly rancid. McDonald’s like french fries, and the most pissy Harp that I have ever had.
Average Irish pub, shame about the fish and chips…. First off, this place is just fine for a drink, and I really enjoyed being outside in the square under an umbrella. However, I was very disappointed with the fish and chips.First of all, disclaimer: I’m British, so I came to the table with appropriately lowered expectations. I don’t expect it to taste like it does at home. What I do expect though is not to have to eat fish with soggy batter that seems like it was fried the day before, or to see ten fries on my plate. That is all
