All-arounder.. Quite possibly the best sushi restaurant in Virginia Beach, and I only offer that bit of qualification because there are a few that I haven’t been to yet. The waitresses are friendly and the chefs are jovial. The decor is pleasant. Most importantly, the fish is fresh and the rice is perfectly cooked. The menu is fairly diverse but not overly large, featuring a number of excellent specialty rolls. I really can’t say enough good things about Sapporo East. My only complaint is that it isn’t located any closer to my home.

Love This Place !!!!!. This place is the only place I go for sushi. The food always tastes amazing and to top it off the chef often creates a nice appetizer that you get for free.The service is superior to many restaurants in the Virginia Beach area. We have on waitress that knows us and even recognizes my voice over the phone when calling for delivery service. They are always polite and make sure you get everything you need.The atmosphere is very pleasant and the place is spotless. This is the place to go
Sushi Lover’s Dream. Sapporo East is now the only sushi place I go. The food, portions, prices, and service there will make you come back again and again. We take all our guests to Sapporo East. It doesn’t matter if they are sushi lovers or not because by the time they taste their first bite at Sapporo East, they become devoted sushi fans. I always start off with Sapporo East’s own Tuna Pizza, Shrimp Tempura (you haven’t had shrimp tempura until you had it here), and the Avery Roll (off menu) for the table. Then, before the main course I like to order an Uni Shooter followed by some Mochi Ice Cream for myself. I usually go for the a la carte selections like lobster sashimi, uni sushi, etc. But, I love their Green Roll, Crazy Roll, and Dragon Roll, which all comes out like beautiful works of art. I always like to end the meal with more mocha ice cream. My favorite is the green tea, but my husband is a huge fan of the mango and strawberry. But, whatever you order, you are going to be very happy that you had your meal at Sapporo East. If you are in or around the Virginia Beach area, and you don’t eat at Sapporo East, you are truly missing out. I love sushi, and I will go nowhere else for Japanese food.
Very small place. Very clean and quiet… The Venting lunch special is a great deal! The fried rice was out of this world! And I am crazy picky about fried rice! They have a 10% military discount too… Will go back for lunch as often as I can!
My wife and i have tried every sushi bar (seriously, every one) and sapporo east is our favorite. the fish is always fresh, place is clean and the staff is friendly. we moved away from that side of town but we still make the drive out there, everywhere else just makes us regret not coming here. Try the the spicy tuna, simple but always fresh and delicious.
