This was very good. I don’t drink but it really seemed to revolve around brews – hence the tavern. The food though was delicious – had the double dip and fish and chips. We do plan on returning again. Service was very good as well. Best service that my wife and I have experienced in a long time.
Ive been to Park Lane Tavern several times because they never seem to skip a beat. They are located in Hampton, Virginia, in the Peninsula Town Center. I often drive by at night or around dusk and notice the crowd sitting around the two huge fire pits outdoors in the back of the restaurant. My grubbing partner and I got lucky and went this past weekend while the local air base was having an air show, seating ourselves where we could see the jets perform. We sat outdoors that afternoon near the fire pit, me with the combo sampler which included pretty thick fried calamari, seared tuna and a spinach & artichoke dip as well as a goat cheese dip her with the seared ahi tuna meal which comes with strips of seared Ahi tuna. Served with traditional ponzu sauce and wasabi.. What a beautiful day for a light lunch and drinks.
Park Lane was my choice to have my going away luncheon today. I chose it specifically for their TO DIE FOR Bacon and Gouda burger. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you this burger is bursting with flavor at every bite. I get my burgers done well done and sometimes compromise the juiciness but not this burger. I had it cooked well and was still juicy I subbed the fries for a side salad to make myself feel better for eating a giant burger If you go here GET the burger!!!!!
Keeps going through changes, we’ll see how this pans out. This place has had several names. Now it’s owned by a chain. We have been going to this place for years. Other than the name and clothing the staff wears, nothing really has changed. It’s a great place to get some good beer. They have a huge selection. The tap is okay, but you can get bottles that you might not get anywhere else. (Though if you want even more choices, especially on tap, go to the Tap House in Hampton, the Yard House in VA Beach or the Bier Garden in Portsmouth). When this first opened (as ‘The Pub’, which was British-themed), the, staff was wearing short kilts and push-up bras. I really wasn’t impressed with that- especially because they were trying to bring in more than just guys. If you want a certain clientele, that’s fine. But this place has always tried to bring in women and families and, frankly, women are not going to want to go where other women are serving you in skimpy clothing. It’s demeaning. Thankfully, they’ve done away with that. (And I never understood what a kilt had to do with an British bar…??) We used to hang out outside at the gas-warmed fire pits during early spring and the fall. I think they still light them. But the food has been relatively stable. I love their shrimp appetizer- lightly breaded shrimp and jalapenos with a nice sriracha sauce. I’m also a huge fan of their fish and chips. They give a huge portion of both and they’re delicious. I also love their salads and I get salmon as an addition. Every now and then the salmon is dry, but normally it’s really good. This is a family oriented place most times, but after a certain hour at night I wouldn’t bring my kids (not really different than most bar-type places). They’ve recently change the back area and it’s pretty nice. It’s a great place for happy hour and lunch. They don’t take reservations for less than a party of 6 or 8, so go early if you don’t want to wait (especially on a weekend).
Sunday brunch was excellent. French Toast and Breakfast Shepherd’s Pie. Both great.
Nice place with a lively atmosphere and a cool looking bar and fire pits, but everything is overpriced and there’s too much background noise when its busy. The food is alright but not exactly a bargain. The monte cristo sandwich is my favorite thing on the menu, and the bread pudding was good too. I kinda like Park Lane but it’s definitely a sometimes place. If the food and drinks were a little less pricey I’d be inclined to go more often.
Use to love the place. When park lane opened, I used to love their $3.99 martinis on fridays. Plus they use to change to different drinks seasonally. My mom, sister, cousins, aunts and I use to love going their. However, now the martinis are awful and the menu do not ever change. Nachos are awful and service is not great. I just wish they change their martini menu on friday to better drinks. We use to spend $60 per person but now I chose different bar.
