Stumbled onto this place while traveling. Looked real authentic been open for 67 years. Had such high hopes and let me tell you it was awful. The barbecue sauce is so vinegaree , We ordered barbecued beef and pork both were extremely dry and tasteless, My daughter ordered fried chicken and it was so overdone it was nothing left but bones. Honestly on a scale of 1 to 5 I give it zero sorry Kings will never make it another 67 years. Either the people in Virginia don’t know Goodfood or this place is gone downhill
Minced pork was good but not great. Good fries, good slaw but likely not made there. Hush puppies were horrible, dense and dry. Service was slow and foul language was audible from the kitchen staff. It is what it is… An old barbecue joint living off of its long ago earned good reputation. I’m sure there is better in the Richmond area.
We’ll be back!. Our first meal at King’s was exceptional. The bbq was tasty and not drowned in sauce and the their vinegar based sauce added well to the pork. The cole slaw was slightly sweet but just right. A side of green beans were cooked properly and seasoned well. The hush puppies were perfect and the biscuits a treat. The iced tea was strong and flavorful. The weakest item was the side of french fries but only because they were not quite as crispy as I prefer them. We will be back to King’s again!
Wish we had found it sooner!! A local friend introduced us to some high quality swine at King’s BBQ. The meat was so tender and had just the right amount of fat. The sauce was vinegary and delicious. Even the cole slaw and dessert were decent. If you turn your nose up to the run-down diner appearance, you are seriously missing out. Highly recommend!
Food is Great. But the service sucks. Also, very uncomfortable with how cold they keep their A/C.
Their BBQ sandwiches are skimpy and the place is plain dirty. BBQ tastes good but I have had better…
