Saucy’s is THE BEST BBQ in the area. I have eaten at several bbq places and this is the BEST ever. The BBQ is so moist and delicious. I love that you can just walk up to an old shipping container or eat inside the building.

Hell Yeah!!! The world would be a sad place without their SMOKED CHICKEN TACOS. Great local beer selection. Friendly staff and super clean place. Only 1 suggestion…a couple of TVs would be nice. I would stay longer:)

I usually only get the 1/2 chicken with extra BBQ. But it is to die for! Moist chicken, tangy and sweet BBQ sauce. delicious. Their sweet mashed potatoes are out of this world, and their sweet potato poppers are insane. Nothing here disappoints.

I have to give it to Saucy’s. Not entirely because of their BBQ (more on that in a minute), but most importantly because of their determination and dedication towards making downtown Petersburg a genuinely unique and thriving business and restaurant district again. Saucy’s was always a Walk-Up Joint, but now they’ve built (remodeled?) the building right next to them into a beautiful, bright, contemporary meat hut. The inside has the most interesting and dynamic tables I’ve ever seen in a BBQ joint. The place has local brews on tap, a nod to all that is Virginia Pride. The menu is simplistic, you’re not going to find much here that you wouldn’t find elsewhere, but the prices are very reasonable and the BBQ is genuinely good. Their coleslaw leaves a little in the way of wanting for some catchier vinegar or some mayonnaise, depending on your taste. The portions for french fries are ridiculously large and you won’t finish them (coming from the guy who has to order two sandwiches everywhere he goes). Additionally, they also sell their own sauce (in growlers, no less) that is genuinely good enough that I would consider purchasing it. It is up there on the same level as Buz & Neds, honestly. If you want the most bang for your buck, get the chicken quarter/half. If you need to choose the brisket over the pulled pork, choose the pork. And if you want the perfect ending to your meal, choose the fried moon pie (which I didn’t, but sincerely regret). Petersburg is a better place for having a place like Saucy’s for hungry Soldiers to spend their money at.

What great friendly people. I am from NC so I prefer the vinegar based BBQ, but their tomato based version here is pretty good, the meat is tender. The fries were great, potato salad very good, the beans are a unique thing, three beans in a sauce. The coleslaw was very different than anything I’ve had, not sure I recommend that style with BBQ. Very clean resturant. Overall a good place but if I could make one recommendation it would be to tone down the sauces on everything. The fries were great but would be perfect with less seasoning, beans would be good but you couldn’t taste the beans themselves because of the flavoring, BBQ should always stand on it’s own, again good taste but maybe just a tad over-sauced.

Hands Down! Best meat being cooked within 200 miles of that little saucy shack. All 5 senses are used. Feel the bbq sauce all over the ribs, the smell speaks for itself, see the beautiful tender mean fall off the bone, hear everyone at the table in silence while eating.. and the taste is well perfect!

Stopped by on our way to DC. Saw this this shipping container in the side of the road. The smell reeled us in. Best BBQ I’ve had outside of North Carolina
