We had eaten here several years ago and loved it so much that it became legendary in our memories! On this visit we wanted to introduce our good friends to Emilio’s. I booked ahead and was even called back on the day of our reservation to reconfirm. When we arrived, I was dismayed by the cigarette smoke smell that permeated the restaurant, both at the entrance and all the way up at the second floor room where we were seated. It detracted from the nice setting. We did enjoy our meals, though–loved the manicotti and the butternut squash ravioli (though I agree with another reviewer about the separated oil and vinegar salad dressing). Jeremy did a fine job waiting on our table and ensuring that we finished in time to go to Blackfriars. If we want Italian next time we’re in Staunton, we might ask ahead about the smoke smell.

Where did they eat?. I don’t know where the people who rated this place excellent or good actually ate. I just had one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. The on-line menu looked so promising…the actual menu was stained with food. Should have taken the hint and left. The stuffed mushrooms were unevenly cooked …half burned, half with unmelted cheese and the filling was an unpleasant, tasteless mush. The house salad was crisp, but poorly washed so there was still grit on it and the dressing, served on the side, had separated so that only the oil was accessible unless you dumped the whole container on the salad. The lemon sauce on the chicken was much too sour even for me, and I love lemon. The chicken was nicely cooked, but there was so much sour sauce on the plate that the crust was soggy. The bread was good, seemed freshly baked,may be by the same local bakery that made the cream cake, which was good. Definately will NOT return.
Outstanding. Excellent service. Wonderful meals. Good wine list. Do not miss the Exotic Bomba for dessert! Recommend highly.
Well priced, excellent food, great selection on menu, friendly and helpful staff, very nice decor. Everything was delicious! Check out the 3rd floor bar and outside deck with live music. Loved it.
