Best breakfast at reasonable price. I’ve been visiting Silver Diners since one first opened in the Fair Oaks area of Northern Virginia. I LOVE it. I always order the senior one egg breakfast because it’s just right for my appetite. The service is excellent. The servers are friendly and attentive without being obsequious. Because I never go in without a book to read, I appreciate not having servers stop at my table every five minutes. The food is fresh and arrives hot to the table. If something is not right–rare event–the problem is quickly resolved. There is never any discussion about an issue, and the card for a free meal (110% guarantee) is offered before the manager leaves. The customer who wrote that four cups of coffee cost $11 surely read the bill incorrectly–refills are free (as they should be when one cup costs $2.79), and it’s possible to request/receive a cup (which is VERY large) to go at no additional cost. The people such as myself who drink just one cup of coffee essentially underwrite the cost (which I don’t like) for those who drink multiple cups and get one to go, but SD is not unusual in this regard. I view it as sort of/kind of acceptable because the quality and reasonableness of the meal cost is consistent. As a customer who has racked up almost a thousand dollars on my SD card, I’m obviously a great fan of this local chain. I’ve been suggesting opportunities for a restaurant farther down 95 so I could go more often, but so far management hasn’t acted upon any of my suggestions. siiiiiigh.
Too much money for coffee. On Friday, October 24, 2014 I was treating a friend to breakfast at Silver Diner. We each had a cup of coffee with one refill. Upon receiving the bill, I noticed that the charge for 4 cups of coffee was $11. This seems absurd! Because I had a guest, I didn’t want to question the bill. I will rethink whether or not to return to Silver Diner.
Came across this place while traveling through Va. A true gem with locally sourced produce and meats, the food was far above the free slop that is provided by the hotel, and better than a bob evens or Denny’s. Totally recommend giving this place a shot!
Excellent Diner with a surprisingly large selection of healthy options that taste great. This place acquires alot of their ingredients locally including Farm fresh eggs, free range organic poultry and local produce. I was particularly surprised to see menu items like veggie sausages, maple chicken sausage, gluten free pancakes, local dry aged bison and nitrate free bacon. The wait staff is friendly and courteous and the atmosphere is retro fun. Children’s menus come in little papershaped cars and each booth has a little jukebox. Silver Diner is a great place for a relaxed hearty and healthy meal.
I like the new menu.
Good Diner. Drove past Silver Diner on Smoketown Road stopped in to check this place out, old style looking building neon lights silver crome trim. Went for the Pot Roast plate large serving of sliced pot roast on a bed of mashed potato’s smothered in brown gravy with corn and streamed vegetable on the side. You get a selection of soup or salad, service was very friendly food came to the table very quick overall tasted OK large portions. They boast farm fresh ingredients however the mash potato’s seemed to be powder can’t complain good value for $14 I left full with no room for desert.
Close to Potomac Mills Outlet Mall. Silver Diner has that 50’s style decor with juke box players at most tables.Food and service are usually good. It’s just accross the street from Nordstrom Rack at the Potomac Mills Outlet Mall. We like to stop for breakfast at Silver Diner before shopping! I like the Country Ham and Eggs for breakfast. They also offer a Senior Citizen Discount if you ask.
