Our experience was better than others mentioned here. I would have rated a bit higher but the food temp could have been hotter. If you like Chile relleno this place bakes instead of fried which is my preference. Only place in DC area that offered CR this way was an excellent Mexican place long gone in Georgetown. Wife enjoyed a chicken enchiladas. Wait staff were pleasant just wished food got to us before it got cold.

Waitress ignored us when we walked in and after sitting down to include making us wait five more minutes after we told her we wanted our drinks. Kitchen had kids walking around. This place is terrible. Be warned.
Poor service. The food was just ok. Chicken corn chili tortilla soup was finely pured like baby food. It took 45 minutes before we saw any food. We had 3 different people waiting on us, none brought us anything in a timely manner! We were served soup, asked for a napkin, went to the bathroom, came back, ate our soup, and THEN got a napkin. The simplest of things were apparently too much for this staff. They were not very busy. There was another customer loudly complaining that she had been there for an hour and 15 minutes with no food. Definitely would not repeat such poor service for overpriced, SUB-PAR food!
Another good reason to continue to explore the west in Virginia. Cajun Chicken SandwichBoneless chicken breast with Cajun seasoning, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onions, and Tabasco vinaigrette After visiting the Distillery across the street and taking the tour, we decided to try this place for a late lunch. We have not been in this area of Virginia much and the expectation of what would be on the menu was far from the South of the Texas border fare this fine restaurant offers.The flavors of the spicy tabasco coated chicken breast on home made toasted bread might not be for every one, but they definitely hit the spot for me. And having the vegetable toppings served on the side was a good request because the delightful flavors of the light, vinegary dressing on the mixture of avocado, lettuce, tomato, onions were a satisfying treat all their own.I live in Virginia and work in Bethesda. This offers me much opportunity to sample a wide range of menu selections from a fine selection of restaurants and cuisines. This lunch at the White Palace was as satisfying for me as any I have found in any place I have patronized in the last 14 years, including places in Virginia, Maryland and Texas.The cocktails are well made and producers of fine memories of past times and favored places.Jose and family, keep up the good work!
I just loved it!. Memories of real food from my 5 years in San Antonio, but with a twist–I asked where the cook was from. Answer: El Salvador. My reaction: Well, she sure can cook! My tortilla soup was perfect–and perfectly authentic. If you are used to chain restaurant food, it might not be what you expect. It’s better. We were there at a slow time, but had no complaints about service time or style. Taking our son and his lovely visiting girlfriend there for dinner tonight. I don not understand the negative reviews.
The food here is TERRIBLE! My daughter ordered tacos and they brought her what we could have gotten out of an Ortega box much cheaper. The service was slow, and the people were rude. Save your money.
