We were looking for a place to have a late night dessert and found Shyndigz, so glad we did! We got there around 11pm and were seated right away. Though it was near closing there was still a decent crowd both in the inside and outside eating areas. Our server was very friendly and offered up suggestions as this was our first visit. We decided on the salted chocolate carmel cake and the fresh fruit cake…oh my were they delicious and the portions were huge, we couldn’t even finish them! We will definitely be making a return trip to try some of their other dessert options. It’s nice to know they offer take out service as well.
The cakes and pies here are incredible. They are decadent, huge and very fairly priced. We tried an assortment of desserts and loved each one. My favorite part of Shyndigz may have been the decor and atmosphere. Low lighting made the experience intimate and the decor was beautiful. Our waitress was very pleasant. Overall very impressed. We will be back to visit from Raleigh for sure!
Takeout. I was extremely disappointed yesterday when I came by to pick up a couple of pieces of pie.I have been getting pie from Shyndigz every since I moved here 2 years ago. And always felt that I was welcome.Yesterday was the first time that I didn’t feel welcome.I was told that I was limited to the couple of items on the takeout menu. Not because the other ones couldn’t be made for takeout, but because Shyndigz didn’t want to run out of items for the dine in customers. So it seems that if I am unwilling to sit in a crowded place with a lot of noise, I am reduced to taking leftovers that the customers in Shyndigz don’t want. And it wasn’t like I was ordering 9 pies to go. It was ordering 3-4 pieces of pie in different varities instead of all of the same kind.Last night was the last night that I will be at Shyndingz, I will go someone else where my business is wanted.
Simply Phenomenal. Sea Salt Caramel Cake, Peanut putter Pie and Pineapple Upside Down Cake…..Heaven in your mouth! Atmosphere was a bit chaotic, and took surprisingly longer than anticipated but definitely worth the wait….to go may be a better option on our second visit.
Disappointed. The cakes are awesome, but this place is ridiculous! No organization and they have no idea what they are doing. I can understand a long wait time, so I decided to take it to go. To accommodate for all the sit in customers, during certain hours you can only pick from a FEW desserts for carry out. Are you serious? I’m a paying customer, I want a slice of spotted cow cake, you have it available, BUT I can’t have it unless I sit in? And to top it off the customer service is rude. I used to love this place, but now with FOUR bad experiences back to back I just find it worth it! I will never recommend this place again!!
Don’t expect too much. Ordered a cake 6 days prior to pick up via a very pleasant email exchange. Pickup day arrived and I mentioned to a coworker how I was going to Shyndigz later that day to pick up a salted chocolate caramel cake for my wife’s birthday. Upon hearing about my order, said coworker visited their website and noticed they would be closed. Wait, what!? After an annoyed email to business owner, I received a reply stating that it was *clearly* stated on their Facebook page, website, and voicemail that they would be closed due to bad weather and that I could just pick up my cake tomorrow. Oh sure – pick up my scheduled BIRTHDAY cake a day late. Unless you are giving me the cake for free, why in the world would I be interested in the cake a day late? Apparently they are not familiar with the concept of making and taking orders or they don’t value customer commitments. Either way, not good for business, as cake orders usually involve some kind of deadline. Pretty key to survival when you are in the bakery / dessert business. This is not to say I don’t understand their reasoning for closing (I do), what ultimately made me angry was the complete lack of effort on their part to contact me directly as soon as they knew they would be closed.
