Mac and Cheese FAIL. I have been coming to ATR for years. This was my last visit. The Lobster Mac and Cheese used to be an amazing dish. The sauce was cheesy, the lobster was fresh and the noodles were perfectly aldente. This trip; not so much. After our meal, our waitress asked how our meal was. We explained that it was mediocre at best. Yes, it was palatable, but neither of us would order it again. We explained to her why it was no longer a great dish. Understandably, she told us she would send over the manager. The manger never took the opportunity to speak to us. After waiting for the check and paying the bill; we left after 5-7 minutes had gone by and it was clear our feedback wasn’t a priority. We by NO means expected a free meal out of this; we ate our food but we did NOT enjoy it. We might have gone back but after being blown off – I won’t consider it. It might be worth the trip for a drink at the bar – but don’t make the trip for the lobster mac – that is for sure.

0 for 2 on Dining Experience. 2 dinners, 2 disappointments. The first time was a special plate of schnitzel with spaetzle. Schnitzel was greasy and the spaetzle tasted like someone had opened a salt shaker and poured it in. I like salt. It was inedible. Second time was chicken and waffles. Waffles were good, chicken was greasy and I left with a nauseous feeling in my belly. (Yes these were both dishes with fried main courses but that does not have to mean greasy). I went again just for a drink and had some chicken wings and a pretzel with my beer. All this was satisfactory. Too bad about dinner since I really like the atmosphere in there.

My friend Stephen thinks this place is a mix between UNOs and Ruby Tuesdays. Anyhoo you need to try the ceviche it’s on POINT. Okay well bye. PS watch out for John the Dancing Guy!

In town for a class the date of which fell on our anniversary. Hubby picked this restaurant to celebrate. Busy Saturday night and final four crowd- establishment obviously not suitable for a quiet dinner- rather loud and noisy . Had to wait 30 minutes even with a reservation. Food was good. Calamari delicious although our steaks a bit under cooked. Service was good as well. Happy with his choice of a restaurant even more happy to celebrate 17 years together!!!

Mostly delicious, a little not so good. My visit to the American Tap Room was with a fairly large group. The service was very friendly and the setting was loud and lively. The food however the food was a mix of delicious and not so good. Our appetizers were the hummus and bbq chicken wings. I could have eaten all of that hummus with no guilt whatsoever. The wings were also very good, and many member of our group had good comments about them. Because we were a group we had a choice of two salads – Caeser and mixed green salad. I ordered the mixed green salad because I love green goddes dressing. Here is where the ball was dropped. My salad was nearly naked. I could see a film of dressing on the bowl, but no flavor on the greens. For an entree our group had the choice of Pecan Crusted Salmon, Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Shitake Mushroom Sauce and a Grilled Chicken Breast with Basil. I had the steak and it was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. There were many great comments about the salmon too. My dessert was the Creme Brulee, and I loved it. So I guess it was a mixed review. I can say that some things happen when you bring a large group, and maybe that was the explanation for the salad – but I would still return if given the opportunity.

American Tap Room. I ate here last night with a dining companion. Upon entering the restaurant you can see that the furniture is made out of a nicely colored wood and also that there are bottles of wine around. The menus were different as they were back-lit which made for a nice novelty item. For dinner I ordered the IPA Veggies as an appetizer with the Papperdale Pasta with duck ragout for my entree. Whenever the IPA Veggies were brought to the table it was not what I had been expecting at all. It looked like a plate of fries with a few deep fried vegetables underneath and was not even close to what I had imagined since there was no mention of fries in the description, only sweet potatoes and pale ale batter. The taste of the items was decent and the yogurt sauce was good for the vegetables while I used a spicy sweet and sour sauce for the sweet potato fries. My entree also proved to be a disappointment as the pasta had little flavor and the duck was a lot greasier than I had hoped. Overall it was one of the least satisfying meals that I have had lately. My dining companion had quite a different experience ordering the crab dip for his appetizer and the grilled pork chops for his entree. He enthusiastically endorsed both of the items. The service was also just ok but I will give them the benefit of a doubt since it was Valentine’s Day and the restaurant was packed which did not seem to be the case on any other night that we have walked by it.The bottom line for me is that this restaurant was a large disappointment. The service was decent with all things considered but I will not be returning in the future.
