Great Italian Food. 4.2/5 starsService – My experience was great. Waiters were pleasant, water was refilled promptly and without having to ask, bread and olive oil were both very good.Food – The pasta dishes were cooked just right – al dente. Non of that overcooked garbage you’ll find at most Italian places. The sauces were nice, the portions were generous, and the seafood pasta included large shrimps and scallops – they didn’t skimp. The appetizers and desserts were both very good as well. Frankly, this place blows Carrabas/Mac gril/etc out of the water. Atmosphere: Lighting was just right, light enough to see your food easily, dark enough to hide the odd blemish. The tables were large enough to accommodate the dishes, I never felt cramped. Value: You get what you pay for. That idea holds esp true at Il Fornaio. You’re paying a premium for the food, but you’re also getting a high quality dish. Don’t go here if you want to get a ‘good deal,’ go here if you want to get good food. Pasta dishes will run you $15-22, appetizers are around $10.
I went there for Happy Hour w/ my friends. The food wasn’t spectacular, it was mediocre. The waiter never came to our table and when he did he was out of there so quick we could never order anything more. It took me 45 minutes to get my bill and when I got my bill, I had to TELL my waiter what I ordered because he didn’t write it down. Then he gave me the wrong bill. When I tried to speak with him about it, he argued with me. Then the manager came over and treated me like a criminal. The ONLY good thing was Pablo, a bar tender. He told me that if I ever decide to grace this restaurant with my presence again, he will make sure I am well taken care of..
Good service until we got our bills. Our waiter charged my sister the wrong price for her bill – it should have been 3$ and not 6.27$ for the draft because we came during happy hour. He argued with us and we ended up taking to the manager. The manager told us to pay the full price for the beer and shut up (basically) even though we let him know he will never have our business nor our families or place or works business again. He was rude and uneducated in the service industry. What happened to the customer always being right? After that terrible experience I would never recommend anyone go to this poor excuse for an Italian Restaurant.
