Marginal Marginal marginal. Mushy flavorless crab appetizer, gumbo was bitter with flavorless chicken thrown in as an afterthought. Thai flounder was also mushy and almost no flavor. Key lime dessert was not worthy of the name. Excellent wine. This is a business expensed place that appears to be successful, but the disinterested service and disappointing food was so underwhelming.
Big disappointment!!! Totally was not worth the $ amount. Meal was not that great and service was horrible. Server had issues, major attitude. When dinner arrived non of the food runners and even the manager had any idea on which dish belonged to who. No one apologized for the mistake… Even THE MANAGER!!! Then to top of the already bad evening the server tried to pull a 40% tip on my bill. (How many people has he scammed?) After I noticed that, he changed the amount and he did not apologize. I will never go back.
PassionFish!. I ate here last night with a dining companion. We were from Pittsburgh and it was recommended to us by a mutual friend in the area. The decor of the restaurant is upscale with linen tablecloths and neutral colored walls. We were seated upstairs where they also had some nice canvases of fish with black backgrounds. I imagine that the view is normally a bit better but whenever we ate there we got to look out over some construction sites.I started off with the Kung Pao Calamari appetrizer. It came with a nice presentation of some leaf lettuce on the side and carrots on the top. It had nice bits of calamari and tasted good with the spicy kung pao sauce that we all know with peanuts. For dinner I had the Fresh Lemon Sole and chose the Lemon Beurre Blanc sauce with the Red Thai Curry Rice as my side. My fish was cooked perfectly and tasted very good when combined with the sauce. In addition to that my Red Curry rice has a nice curried flavor that I really enjoyed. My dining companion had the whole crispy flounder. When they say whole, they are not kidding as the whole fish was presented to him. The waitress was nice enough to teach him how to eat it and he enjoyed it even though the jalepenos on top made it extremely spicy. Once dinner was completed we looked at the dessert menu which had many interesitng items but we decided to pass. The bottom line for me is that I would definitely come back here if I was visiting DC in the future. The fish tasted great, the service was friendly and the menu had a nice selection.
