A waste a a perfect location. It takes a special kind of attitude to ruin a location on the river but the staff and management of Conch Republic have that in spades. The service is sloppy at best, resentful in general and the food runs the spectrum from mediocre to downright awful. The management doesn’t seem to care and in fact responds to complaints as if they were expected and unremarkable, which it appears they are. Please do not embarrass the city by taking out of town guests there and don’t waste your money by eating there.
Beautiful restaurant….below average food. Conchless Conch fritters, blah nachos.
If it wasn’t for the location and view of the skyline, I would give this restaurant a 1. The food was inedible…we ordered the conch fritters and the conch was rubbery. I had the jambalaya and it tasted like Campbell’s soup poured over rice. My friends fish was under cooked. While they removed the meals from our bill, the management never came out to inquire why we were unhappy.. I guess they didn’t need our feedback. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you are looking for a good meal, perhaps.if only for a salad and a drink this place may work out.
I’ve always heard that the drinks were good but the food was awful. I went with a friend for lunch and we’d beg to differ. The peel-and-eat shrimp were huge and delicious. The rice and beams were a. Little bland, but its creole, a little hot sauce fixed that problem. It’s in a great neighborhood with greater views of the river. The live music is fun too.

Great location, great view, and generally good food but don’t bother sitting at the bar. This is the only bar I have been to where the bar tenders would rather do anything but speak with you and get you a drink. I am sitting here with two bartenders on and literally six people at the bar but I waited almost 10 minutes to get a beer with absolutely no greeting. She is standing a foot from me, facing me but literally can’t acknowledge me. One bar tender was texting for almost 5 mins and the other girl was just miserable. Getting a menu was rough and refills on beer were tough. I bartended through college and it was a great, fun job but yet these people hate their lives, I don’t get it. Management, may I suggest some anti-depressants for you staff?
Atmosphere is awesome, service and food sucks! The food tasted like it was prepared ahead of time, cold and soggy. The chicken sandwich was fatty, the taco salad only had a few pieces of lettuce and hard, over-cooked beef. The drinks and the view were great though. I think if we go back it will be to have drinks and look at the river.I definitely do not recommend this place at all!
