Poor service. Water never refilled. Carne asada burrito was bland mush. All I tasted was heat. Not much bang for the buck, although bottomless chips & salsa were nice. No flavors stood out in anything I tried. I wouldn’t call this Mexican but rather Hipster Southwestern.
Really want to like this place; actually, I do like it. Been to ye old retired porn shop multiple times this year, had consistent food & service every time. Skip to conclusion: go for happy hour, order fish tacos, enjoy the central location, the staff, and the reasonable price. Service: In the past, I’ve read reviews that menioned lackluster host and wait staff. I’ve never had that experience, the service from start to end has been good, reserved but good. Food: I was excited to hear about the food, dismayed to read others’ reviews, and even more dismayed to taste the lack of taste that the billed ingredients of their tacos possess. Pork, steak, chicken – all bland, all dull their thoughtfully crafted toppings. Not a fan of the double bagged tortilla either. Fish Tacos, bottomless chips (accompanied by a trio of delicious salsas), and the Spanish Rice (you get a quart of it) are amazing choices.Bar: Happy Hour trumps all! They offer selections of drafts, mezcal, tequila, whites, reds, etc. Generous selection of choices, especially for a smaller restaurant. Price: My latest check was $26, it included:Bottomless chips5 tacos (total)Spanish rice2 drafts1 sodaConclusion: Wanted to like En Su Boca from the start and know I have. Order what’s good, come at happy hour, enjoy the location, enjoy the decorating, enjoy the deals, and learn to love the burn En Su Boca.
Loved this place. Had Carna Asada. It was great. Nice atmosphere great service. Want to try the fish tacos next time
Good food, ok service. The bartender was quick to check in and hook me up with a beer, but when we went outside to eat, it took a little more to get the wait-staff’s attention (this could be a function of where we sat- we were at the table right by the entry, which could be a little of a blind spot). The food was spicy, and very tasty- I got the 4 tacos for $11, and thoroughly enjoyed them. The bottomless chips comes with 3 sauces, most will enjoy the mild salsa, and I found the green salsa and the habanero to be welcome additions- the habanero is as spicy as you’d expect, so exercise caution if that’s not your thing. I give it a thumbs up for location, and quality of food (I really enjoyed it). Service was nothing to complain about, but nothing outstanding.
Very fast service. I liked…. Very fast service. I liked the chorizo tacos. Ordered chips with 3 salsas–only complaint was the hot salsa wasn’t very hot. Patio is nice, except whenever an ambulance/police with sirens goes by
The service isn’t great, but the food is delicious! One of the best taco joints in RVA. We were a large group with lots of children, and they were great about it. It’s a new restaurant, so the service will hopefully get better.
