The wine dinner is a great option, especially with the Chef’s specials. The lobster ravioli was outstanding. The service was great as well.

Went last Tuesday (9-25-12) for the first time and had a wonderful experience. Ordered a cheap bottle of Pinot Noir, a quail dish and a buffalo ribeye. Everything was beyond delicious and the server was excellent! This is an upscale restaurant, with a great atmosphere and fabulous food!

The food was excellent. Service very good through the main course. Our waitress became busy and desert, coffee, and check took forever to get. The ambiance was wonderful, spacious seating, pleasant music, and clean. Highly recommended.

Good Italian food. Took my date here for dinner the other night as we both wanted to check it out, then go out for a few drinks and enjoy the nightlife. The restaurant is located downstairs so it is not handicap assessable, just want to put that out there not that it affected us. The restaurant did have that romantic feel to it and the staff seemed very prompt and attentive however it really wasn’t that busy. They had a wide variety of dishes and a extensive wine menu so you could get anything ranging from $40-$1800/bottle. Interesting items on their menu such as frog legs and asparagus parmesan. We do like wine but since we were going out drinking later didn’t really want any, she ordered a beer and I ordered a vodka tonic. The waiter spilled the beer next to our table, he looked pretty embarrassed but since we didn’t get wet it was good entertainment. There were also a wide variety of patrons in the restaurant some very casual and others dressed up a bit, so it wasn’t so uppity that anyone couldn’t go there which I liked. I tried the cannelloni which I thought was amazing, but I really like that that type of dish. My date had the asparagus parmesan which was unique and different. I would go back again and try other dishes if I had the chance, they also do takeout so if you are local you can order and pickup.

Great for corporate entertaining or a romantic night out! If you can’t find a wine you like with their selection you will have to go to France.

Very, very, very nice!. A good old Italian Lounge Restaurant, if you know what I mean! And the food is VERY good!

Good, not great. My wife and I went to La Grotta for the first time since Richmond magazine rated it as one of the best restaurants in Richmond. We had the sea bass and veal medallions, so we can’t speak on their pasta. Both were good, but neither was anything spectacular. I felt like I could make the same at home, so we we felt it was slightly overpriced. Don’t get me wrong, the ambience and the waitstaff were excellent, but the food wasn’t great enough to justify a second visit. Also, if you’re really into wine, they have an extensive list of wines. There are two pages from which you can buy by the bottle or glass and another 8 or so pages of wines by the bottle.
