My friends are regulars to this place. They suggested the braised prime short ribs. We ordered the pork chop and the catfish (which was the special that evening). For starters, we had coccoli. Food really delicious. Ambience and service are good.
Most DC restaurants are over priced, but this place takes it to the extreme. Food is good, not great. Drinks are terribly small and beer is over priced, even for DC. There are many better places to grab a meal, avoid this place.
I personally like this place. They have great service and a well done indoor and outdoor space. Barley Mac is hard to miss, it’s right on the Main Street and it’s usually packed. If you come in for their happy house, you are most likely going to be seated in a separate section of the restaurant ( which is not a bad thing ) it’s just easier for them to organize and cater to their customers. So the happy hours wait can be a little crazy so be prepared for that. They have a concise food menu and good selection of wine and cocktails. The drinks were around $6-$7 and the food approx $10. We had the fried calamari, cos we dint really like the rest of the menu. I’ve had better calamari certainly, but I’m not going to trash the entire food menu cos of this one dish. The drinks were great! Service was quick and efficient and everything gets done like clock work. Will definitely return!
