I have mixed perspectives about kona grill. For the most part, I feel these guys are confused about what they need to serve. You can find Italian – flat breads and sushi and grill on their menu. Ummmmm ok? Their interior decor reflects the same confusion. While everything seems fine at the first glance, you’ll figure out what I’m saying 10 minutes into your dinner or lunch. If you are a vegetarian, this probably isn’t ur place. They have nothing substantial, and my friend who wanted something meatless had to dig through the menu and cross check if anything at all could be substituted for egg or tofu or so. Finally, pasta was what she ended up ordering. Apart from the garlic bread on the dish, everything else was bland and tasteless. And by tasteless I mean, it was like the penne was dipped in tomato soup. However, the rolls were good. And I feel kona should just stick to that and stop experimenting with the other nonsense. I had the Yamada roll and they were pretty nice. The con? My rolls kept falling apart. Umm. Their appetizers are quite expensive but the rest of it is alright. Their passion fruit creme brle is pretty good!Would I visit again? – no.

Went to the fair oaks mall and sat there for happy hours! Had couple of beers and avocado egg roll which were different wnd the dip was amazing with that! Cheeseburger sliders was a good portion! Would definitely go back again. Amazing decor and service.
Nice to have another new, high quality place in Arlington. Great fresh food with interesting menu choices. The service has been excellent each time I’ve been there.
We used to go here a lot in Kansas City so when we moved to Arlington we were stoked to find it here. The sushi was just as good but I have to point out how awesomely kid friendly it was without being a chicken nugget joint. The kids menu had fresh sushi with edamame and a bear orange. I love that we can relax with great rolls and great cocktails and our 8-year-old can eat fresh, healthy, delicious food too!
I love hitting up new spots in Arlington. I would rather go to a restaurant opening week than a new movie. When a new restaurant opens up the energy is palpable. The staff is excited about the food, the cooking staff is interested in the recipes and style, and management is just excited to share their hard work with you. You only get one first impression, right?Kona Grill just opened up a new location in Rossyln, and I’m so happy we made the trek down for a bite – or three, or twenty. Often times chains don’t get the respect they deserve. Local spots get so much love for having unique recipes, chefs, decor, and so on – but someone came up with these recipes. A chef somewhere, whether this location or another, crafted this food with care.Kona Grill has a killer happy hour, it’s truly insane. We got a total of 10 dishes and 6 drinks for around $105, before tip. That’s an average of about $6.56 per plate! Becky, Max and I left so full – and very happy.During our meal John, our server, explained a lot about Kona Grill and the food we had. You could see the pride in the food he was serving. Between sitting down and leaving we spoke with 5 different team members about the food and drinks we were eating. Vanessa, one of the managers stopped by to give appreciations just for coming opening week – that’s pretty cool. When you get down to business, of the dishes we had I would definitely recommend the Bulgogi Tacos. Korean inspired, but Vietnamese in flavor. I loved them! The beef was sliced thin, and tasted as if it was marinated in hoisin sauce. The tacos were topped off with a slaw had chopped cilantro throwing it distinctly into Vietnamese. I was surprised by the flavors, but was not disappointed.Another standout dish for me was the asparagus salad. The tomatoes, onions, and asparagus were cooked perfectly – tender with a little crunch. They were served with a bed of fresh greens and crostini served with herbed goat cheese. All together, it was a great salad – light and fresh. If you’re looking for a great place to go with friends for happy hour, a stylish sushi joint, or somewhere to take visiting family I would definitely recommend Kona Grill – ask for John.
