I’m going with awesome. The service was prompt and gracious. We thought the Injera was authentic and fresh, maybe the best we’ve had although served cold. The Doro wat was magnificent! Really, everything was. You should go.
This place is GREAT. It’s wonderful to try something new and that’s exactly what we did when we ate here. The addis is amazing. Different but tasty. There’s an open mic night, Tuesday Verses, weekly. It’s definitely worth checking into.
Putting Richmond on the Diversity in Food Map!. I’ve had Ethiopian food before in DC, but this place is the best!! The food was delicious! Everything tasted so fresh, and spiced just right. The restaurant was completely filled, every table filled and seats at the bar taken so make reservations! Richmond has been up and coming when it comes to cultural restaurants and this place should really put us on the map! Will be a frequent customer – thank you!!
Went here last night because we wanted to be adventurous. Best idea ever! The food was so delicious! Owner, manager and staff were very friendly, helpful and made us feel at home.
Great Food Awesome Band but….. Used a groupon tonight……. food was great. Never had Ethiopian food before. There was a live band playing tonight, don’t recall the name but they were awesome. Most of the staff was superfriendly except for the bartender. We tried to get drinks before dinner and I felt like we were bothering her. Her attitude was horrible…it left a stain on an otherwise perfect evening….
Absolutely loved it. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We had never tried Ethiopian food before, so we had no idea what most dishes were. We told our waitress we like our food hot and spicy and went with her recommendation of the Chicken Kitfo. It was a delicious choice. The flavors are so complex and they hit you almost in waves. She also told us the platters are meant for sharing and are more generous in portion than they first appear. She was right about that too. The chicken dish and an appetizer of Katenya was more than we could finish and believe me we tried. I can’t wait to go back.
Delicious and different. I can imagine that the shared serving platter and bread and lack of utensils could provoke anxiety in germophobes or those who are overly territorial about their dining space , but it is part of the over all sensory experience of eating at Addis. The sensuality of the meal makes it a great place for a date. The food and the service were great.
