I discovered this restaurant for the first time last night and loved it! It felt like we had left the US and gone to another fun, exotic country. Ha. Despite the place being packed after Friday Cheers, a group of friends grabbed a spot at the bar, and we didn’t have to wait at all. Cool atmosphere, lighting and live music. Ban Caribe (Latin and Caribbean inspired soulful rhythm) was playing and we actually ended up dancing along the side of the bar to their tunes. Side-note: The curved-bar is designed in such a way that it’s easy to chat with lots of friends. Plus, the food and drinks are great! (We split the bacon guacamole, salsa, and an order of Pork tacos. I also recommend their Mango Chili Margarita, particularly if like a little fire on your lips! Ha). I’m definitely going back there again soon.

Rating: Poor. Stopped in for an early dinner. The waitress was not very knowledgable and when she did not know an answer, just brushed it off. Friend ordered chicken quesidillas which were not very flavorful and were not hot when arrived. I ordered the Cobb salad and it was the worst salad ever. The lettuce was not fresh, the avocado was tasteless, the TWO shrimp were COLD and hard as rocks, the TWO pieces of white fish were two itsy bitsy slivers that were COLD, CHEWY, and awful. The green goddess dressing was good, which was good as I tried to drown out how bad the salad was. And, since the plate was ice cold, I am assuming they had them pre-made and stuck in the fridge, which would explain how terrible it was. Anything but fresh and passable for a salad. Yes, you may say…a salad at a Mexican restaurant? Because it is on the menu and should be as good as anything else on the menu. Waitress did not even ask how our food was, because I would have told her. I do NOT recommend this restaurant.

Great experience. We were downtown for the College Cycling Championships and stopped by between races. Late afternoon found the dining room fairly empty but the patio fairly full. We had the bar to ourselves and had exceptional service. Jessica and Stephanie were very knowledgeable about their 100+ tequila list and made some great drinks for us. I hadn’t had a michilada since living in TX and really liked the special touches like custom salts and syrups in the drinks. The tacos were excellent as were the rice and bean sides and the three home made hots sauces were fantastic. The Happy Hour looks great and we look forward to returning soon.

Ate there yesterday…service was slow, there was only 5 tables occupied. Food wasn’t great.

Worst service in the city. Good food but HORRIBLE service every time I come here. If you read other reviews – servers forget to put in orders, they try to clear plates while you’re still eating. Overall the waitstaff and managers are inexperienced and inconsiderate. But nothing trumps this past Saturday when our waiters (who were bad to begin with) messed up our bill and it took them an hour to fix it. Fine, mistakes happen. But no one asked if we wanted drinks or anything else while we waited. We just sat their for an hour while they screwed up our bill over and over again. Not even exaggerating. When I asked for the manager, he was defensive and rude. Rookie move. If you come when the restaurant is DEAD you should be fine.

I had to go here twice just to be sure. It is confirmed. The food here is insanely good.

Great ambience not usually found in RVA. Food is a 7/10 based on my Texas roots. Worth returning for.
