Not Too Pleased -horrible service. I have dined at many different restaurants within the Hampton Roads area and with a focus on supporting local private owned restaurants, but this is one I will NOT support again ! I took my mother for lunch today and i felt as if I was discriminated against for whatever reasons. Two people who can in for lunch 30mins after my mother and I received their sandwiches 10mins before we. I was very displeased with the servers attention to us and her response time to our needs . I will never dine at this place again solely based on the service !
Hidden Jewel. This is one of my favorite places to eat ! There’s always something unique on the menu ! Nice friendly service with a small hometown atmosphere ! You cannot leave without trying one of their homemade desserts ! Love love love !!!!!!!!!!
Great sandwiches. I have eaten here a few times for lunch and always enjoy their sandwiches. It is a small place and has a very country feeling to it but the service has always been good, kinda like being fed by your grandma. I also like their fries and their muffins are huge! They have all sorts of desserts if you are into that. Their coffee is also pretty tasty, parking around the corner in a nearby lot.
Great Sunday Brunch. A favorite for us that keeps getting better. With the expansion of the restaurant into adjacent store space, there is much more room to handle crowds of diners. We experience friendly wait staff and great food options. On our most recent visit for Sunday brunch, I had the Smitfield Frittata and my wife had the Smithfield Hash. Both dishes were very tasty and very much recommended.
Great Place in Smithfield. I like bakeries and this one is a good one. I took a day trip to Smithfield to try out the breakfast and the pastries. Both we equally as good. The lemon meringue pie was a hit with my grandson. The service was friendly and not rushed.
Top Bakery in all of 757. This little bakery in the small town of Smithfield was recently voted the Best of 757 for the entire Hampton Roads area, by Hampton Roads Magazine.That really says something… even the likes of Va Beach and Williamsburg can’t compete with Smithfield.And you can see (and taste) why, every time you come to eat.
Great Food and Service. I have been visiting the Smithfield Gourmet Bakery and Cafe over the course of the past several months, ever since I came across their Executive Chef, Leon Buenviaje, through another friend on Facebook. When I visit a restaurant new to me, I go in with a critical view. Chef Leon has created an eclectic menu, bringing in his Phillipine heritage. The creation of spring rolls containing fresh smoked pork shoulder meat and homemade pimento cheese and served with blueberry gastrique is certainly something to savor! The wide variety of handcrafted sandwiches and homemade breads leaves good reason to return to this establishment again and again. I have met Chef Leon personally and can tell that he thoroughly enjoys his craft and I can taste it every dish I have had there. I have taken my family and friends there and we have all enjoyed it everytime. It’s a quaint place with terrific local artwork displayed throughout. There is a terrific space upstairs for on-site catering as well.
