Great restaurant! The service was awesome, food was great, and I really enjoyed the country/cozy atmosphere. A little pricey, but this is a place to come to for special occasions. My wife and I were very impressed. I’m looking forward to coming back.
The fact that anyone thinks this place is fine dining is laughable. I found it to be quite ordinary and the good was not good at all. I work in the business and believe me this is not a place I will ever return. It needs a complete overhaul from the bad decor to the frozen unflavored food. Horrible.
Big Letdown. The quest for really good food, atmosphere, and value continues…after a stop in The Log Cabin. We were very disappointed. Even at half the price (and this place is expensive) I would feel let down. I ordered the Cabin Platter and I thought I was looking at a child’s plate at Long John Silvers or the like. The taste was not bad, but with the exception of the fried shrimp (which was good), the clams and crab cakes seems as if they were poured into the deep fryer from a frozen bag. Not at all what I would expect for $28. Their self-serve salad bar is also out of place for the price. Server and host were pleasant and attentive, however an item was charged for that was never delivered. I understand this place has been around for a long time, and there was a good crowd there, so they certainly please some people. However, in this diner’s opinion, I can’t ever justify returning to pay 4 star prices for a 2 star meal.
Great seafood and steaks
Great Crab Cakes. Excellent Crab Cakes, a little on the pricey side but no filler and a generous service of two 4oz lump cakes. The squash cooked in cajon seasoning made for a great side dish. I haven’t been here in over 15 years but the food and service was just as good as I remembered years ago
Back in NoVa so time for another review. The food is decent. The portions are not huge but it is plenty to fill you up. If you are looking for big plates with food to take home, this is not the place. If you looking to eat good food, normal portions, and great service, this is worth the drive. Nice atmosphere, not a chain (thank god), and, I have to say again great service. My only complaint… Overcooked veggies!! Ugh!
Nice Restaurant. I went with my wife a couple of years ago and remember really enjoying the food. Not for kids, and you’ve got to make a reservation, but all-in-all not a bad place. It was expensive, but worth the price, in my opinion, though nothing really set it apart from the other fine steakhouses in Old Town.
