Not bad, but not a good value. How to put this: if I pay $40 for a steak, it has to be perfect-as well as the service and the sides, and they were not. I love steak, I eat out at least 1 time a month to buy one. Ruth Chris about 2x a year, and by the price, this is whom River Stone must be trying to compete with, but there is no competition, Ruth Chris smokes them. Right at 10 minutes until first contact after being seated, not good. Then the server gave us the drink specials and then LEFT, saying she would be right back to take out drink order, NOT GOOD. We like nice steak restaurants and we prefer to order our meals as we go. She told us she could take the order all at once, but assured us that it would only come out when we were ready. So we ordered all together. Salad came, about 15 minutes later, before we finished our salads the entre arrived, NOT GOOD. I love good vegetables, I do not mind trying some unusual variety or mixture, but every single vegetable item was some over spiced overly large combination of different items, and she assured us the portion size was good, so only 1 or 2 were needed for 2, this was not true. How about a wonderful cooked order of Asparagus, or broccoli, not available here. Overall, just too much money for a non-Ruth Chris experience. I would rather spend 1/3 of price and eat at Longhorn or spend about $10 less and have Ruth Chris.
I had very high expectations for this restaurant recommended to me by my brother .I’m a steak fanatic and it was my wifes birthday celebration . For me one of the benchmarks restaurants in the tidewater area is Ruthchris. Stone Mountain Chop House fell short of this. It appeared from the hostesses reaction that it was the problem and could not be seated . Since this was our first time there we asked for a tour in which one of perso ns from the bar area graciously obliged us. I believe who came out and reasonable time which was great . we all ordered steaks . I noted that the first bite of my signature ribeye that it was only lukewarm! I don’t know about anyone else ,but when I paid $50 for steak .I want it to be sizzling hot ! it was nowhere close !!!!! This was a major turnoff . I thought it was tasty though but,under seasoned and luke warm . We had another appointment to attend to, so I did not delay our meal and send it back.I did not note until our meal was over that we all agreed that all of our steaks were only lukewarm.I have been to Ruth Chris several times and never had any of these type of complaints at all.
Business dinner. Four of us for dinner and it was excellent as usual. the 22-oz bone-in ribeye was the best steak i have have in a year! fork tender cooked to perfection. Ordered it blackened for a twist. The side order of greens were the best I’ve ever had! The use of red wine viniger is genius. The service was attentive and personable. Hands down best steak in Tidewater.
Disappointing is putting it nicely. On a rare night out with my husband, we chose this restaurant for dinner. Not only was the service extremely slow, the food was less than impressive. I have gotten better steaks at Texas Roadhouse. The menu is ridiculously overpriced, and potion sizes very small. We made two trips in one, the first and last! Don’t waste your time(2 1/2 hours) or money.
I just wanted to write an excellent review on this restaurant. The service, as well as the atmosphere is spectacular, above expectations. The food is always cooked perfectly. Another high note is the management. Teri (spelling??) is above any doubt the most accommodating, welcoming and professional staff member there. We appreciate the consideration and specifics that she gives to our family and guests. What a fabulous place to enjoy a wonderful dining experience.
