Food was decent, not pricey but…. On their website it says you get a 10% discount with a VCU ID…guess what? You don’t.I came with a big group from my college. When we asked for the check and we asked about the discount the server said ‘Sorry we don’t have control over our website.’ Really? We were a party over 6 so we had to pay a gratuity tip. The mixed drinks were pricey but the food prices were very fair. It has a cool atmosphere in it. It was clean and not shady looking. If you are trying to bring a date or hang with a friend don’t go late because I think it turns into a night club-unless you are into that.Only complaint was they didn’t give the discount as advertised. How can you not have control over your website? At least honor what the site says or have a sign in the front. The service was slow- but I guess it is not the place to go with a large group.Oh one more thing- I called ahead to try and put my name on a list and they said they don’t do that. My group had to wait for a table even though a whole row of tables was available. Sure enough, 20 minutes later a big group got the tables without waiting- friends of the owners?SummaryPrices VERY fairfood was goodMix drinks priceyCool atmosphere :Dservice kind of slow and not the best…but they were alright
Great spot. Went for the first time today and will return. We were with a group of friends catching a beer and snacks which included wings, nachos and the chicken barbeque pizza. All were tasty and priced well. Really liked the atmosphere. our waitress, Lauren was attentive and polite.
If you get Kala as a waitress request a new one – she is slow, unbelievably rude, and the only waitress who refuses to split checks. We come every week after soccer and she single-handedly ruined our most recent night by making us do her job for her and go through a 15 person receipt, calculate cost and sales tax. All after we had split by menu item, which apparently wasn’t good enough for her. Not to mention we’d already waited a half hour for our first beers and anoher hour and a half for our food on a freaking dead Monday!!! AVOID. AT. ALL. COSTS.
By far the worse dining experience I have ever had. I went with a group of six for brunch at 11:30 on a Sunday. They told us there would be a 10-15 minute wait which was expected. We waited outside on a bench for 30 minutes and as we were going inside to check what the hold up was the hostess sat a larger party that had arrived after us. We talked to the hostess and after some conversation she unwillingly told the other customers they had to move and that we had been waiting longer. It took another half hour for the waitress to take our order with no apologies. We were on the verge of walking out when, at 1:15, over an hour and a half since we got there (and after we had seen numerous tables that had been there less time than us receive their food) our food came out. We told the waitress how long we had been there, how ridiculous the wait and how horrible the service was, and that we were on the verge or walking out and she agreed to discount our food 50%. She did not apologize once or explain why we had the experience we did, I’m so mad I even tipped her!
Awful!. I am so mad at myself for leaving a tip! I have never had worse or slower service anywhere. Our waitress spent the entire 45 minutes (no exaggeration) that it took for our grilled cheese sandwiches to come out looking at herself in the mirror. Girl, you aren’t that interesting to look at and the food was not worth the wait. I was the first customer in there for lunch and had been waiting already 15 minutes before the next party arrivedthree parties were served before me. I would recommend anyone eat anywhere else – there is so much good food in Richmond, why deal with vain, grumpy people for mediocre food?
Great atmosphere and diversity of menu. Incredible brick oven pizzas. I reccomend for most any occasion, many tv’s and specials for sports, nice dinner atmosphere, good for those who stay out late for bars as well
Sadly Doing a 180. So I’ve had Bellytimber listed as one of my favorites since they opened – I feel that it’s gotten harder and harder to keep letting them slip without saying something. After some bad experiences, it’s time I make this tough decision. Bellytimber: I think I need to start seeing other restaurants, and it’s you, not me.Our service was bad. I mean, really bad. Just outright rude and pathetic. Server made thinly-veiled nasty comments to us all night and completely failed to do anything right on their end. As in: 25min to get a drink, bringing some but not all waters, totally forgot to put in an order (and of course threw the kitchen under the bus). Pizzas were soggy, but edible. Wings were great. Bartender was very nice and gave us good service in the past. While I wish it hadn’t come to this, I’ll take my several hundred dollar tabs and 20%+ tips somewhere else.
