Hole in the wall cafe. Really great food. Good service. The cafe is really small and a few 2 seated tables but also a diner style bar. I look forward to coming by Sun-Thurs $2-$3 wine happy hour. The menu is the same for dinner (sandwiches).
Perfect for rainy afternoon. My husband and I went on a Saturday around 5pm. It was cool and drizzly and we wanted some soup & sandwiches, but not from Panera. I read about Garnetts on FB and thought it sounded charming. It is much smaller than we thought, but that fits perfectly with the restaurant’s feel. I ordered the Croque Monsieur with a soup of the day that was potato with their stout beer. Very delish. My husband ordered some turkey sandwich with chips and my, the chips were great. Our waitress was sweet and attentive, and the food came in what seemed like ten seconds. But can I suggest that you do not leave without dessert. We took home an almond fruit filled cake slice and a coconut cake slice for later. Awesome! Also, it is very inexpensive. This is a gem!
Loved it!. Clean, great service, and loved the food! I’ve eaten here twice in the past week, and was very satisfied both times. I had The Colonel the first time, and it was great. The second time I had the Croque Monsieur and it was very good. The creamy sesame salad dressing was good. No complaints.
So yummy. This is such a good little lunch spot. It’s authentic and everything I have tried is great. My favorite thing on the entire menu though is the benedictine spread! I want to eat it on everything. YUM!!
A Jewel. This is my new favorite spot in Richmond. The place is a hole in the wall, so get there early. The food knocked my socks off. I went with 2 friendly friends that allowed me to have a taste of their sandwiches so I can def. recommend the Croque Monsieur…and a sandwich that I don’t know the name of (and don’t see listed on their website.) It had pickled jalapenos, carmalized onions, and bacon amoung a few other things—->it was awesome. I will be back!!!
Wonderful Turkey Guda on Black Bread. Stopped for lunch with family and were served quickly and efficiently. The sandwich which so rich and tastee! The black bread was both heavy and sweet and went so well with the turkey and Gouda cheese. We also had tomato basil creamed soup which was amazing as it smoothly slid down our throats. This will be a regular stop when we visit our daughter at VCU in the future.
Very tasty fare with great flavor combinations! Try The Colonel or the German style ham sandwich. Good iced tea and not the weak stuff some places serve. The strawberry-apple pie was a treat with a nice light crust. Cozy spot to take your (current) best girl!
