Great time at Joe’s Inn near The Fan District in Richmond, VA. Okay, parking is frequently challenging in The Fan District and we had a bit of a wait for a table, but that is true of all the good restaurants in The Fan. We really enjoyed Joe’s Inn and our server, Cynthia, was genuinely nice and helpful. Food is good, portions are large (enough for two), and prices are reasonable. Cool atmosphere and hip place because it’s been there a good while.

How do you guys do it?????. Places like Joes make all the other restaurants in the area look bad. It is a Richmond must go to. The food is consistently good, and the service is excellent. I must’ve eaten here at least 10 times, mainly for brunch and there has never been a bad meal or a rude server, regardless of how busy they were and whether I was with 12 other people or solo. The spaghetti a la greek is really quite something, and the beers are endless!

Homemade Coconut Cream Pie. It is completely homemade, including the inch of whip cream! It’s like a coconut macaroon in pie form! :)02 Aug, 2014I was looking for a new place to try, and so I tried joes inn due to great things i’ve heard from various people. When I got there it was already busy at four o’clock, however we were seated quickly and the food was brought out in a timely fashion as well. The service was wonderful, very homie with big personalities. Then when we ordered it was difficult because they’re are so many choices! It’s located right across the street from a cute little market as well, so everything is freshly made there. I had the meatball sub, and you could tell the meatballs were fresh and had a great crisp to them. My boyfriend got the spaghetti, which Is sixteen dollars. But it’s the biggest plate I’ve ever seen. Enough for a week easily. My boyfriends mom ordered the chicken livers, amaZing as well! She said the mashed potatoes were incredible, and I won’t even get started on the corn bread! Best part is they serve breakfast all day too, so we’re going back very soon. All of the portions were ginormous and is very well priced. Everything was basically under ten dollars. They have a beautiful bar, and we topped off the night with three different desserts that were, once again, all freshly made. We even saw a waitress run to the market at one point to get some more tomatoes. It is by far worth the drive. The food, people, and atmosphere was wonderful! We’ve got left overs for days!

Great Breakfast. I’m fairly new to Richmond and, so far, this has been my favorite breakfast/brunch spot. They give you HUGE portions and everything tastes extremely fresh. OH – and the greek yogurt with honey is INCREDIBLE!!! For real, if you like greek yogurt, get that. I find myself craving it at least once every day.

A Bar’s Bar. Its the neighborhood watering hole, except with frozen fries and a pretty good beer selection. Its loud and fun and the definition of unpretentious. You have to hand it to the staff there who are run ragged by the indecisive drunken clientele. They keep calm and try their best, which I appreciate. I have brought friends here and we always have a good time just chatting and drinking. There isn’t much to say. Its always busy, happy hour prices are good. The seating is tight at the tables…lots of tables but they are usually all taken. Every time I have been there it was easier to grab a spot at the bar than a table unless you come before 6:30. Its a Richmond staple. Do it.
