Eat the Tandoori Chicken Kabob!. I’ll start out and state that I am not Persian, so I can’t tell you if the food is authentic or not. I will tell you that I think this place has the very best chicken kabob in the area. I can’t emphasize it enough. Order the Tandoori chicken kabob; It’s not just grilled, its marinated in a light fresh green peppery mix of garlic, cilantro, parsley, hot chili, and basil that gives it a bit of a kick, but makes for an amazing flavor. It’s fantastic! I’ll say it again, it is FANTASTIC!The Gheymeh Bademjan is a stew of beef, split yellow peas in a tomato sauce topped with eggplant and served on basmati rice. It has a cinnamon flavor and is very rich, despite being a little light on the beef. The dish was a bit stingy on the beef, but it was very good. The bread is served in a baggie, which is kind of tacky. The salad-e-shirazi is nothing special. The service is excellent, pleasant and appropriately attentive. The servers are able to give you a good description of each dish and make good recommendations. The decor is clean and bright, and while not being posh, it is still modern and more classy than your average kabob house. Not to get into the middle of the Shamshiry vs Alborz war, but I’d bring people who are not acquainted with Persian food to Alborz before I’d take them to Shamshiry. Alborz is welcoming and a great place to introduce yourself or your friends to Persian cuisine. Shamshiry has good food, but the service is rude and you don’t get an explanation of the food and the place is dingy and appears dirty. If you are not Persian you feel unwanted and out of place. If you’ve been afraid to try Persian food, or want the best chicken kabob in the area, go to Alborz

Best Persian Food in the Area. My wife and I eat at Alborz at least once a week. We consistently have great food and great service. Please be aware that the bad review they got on this site is either phoney or they have the wrong establishment. The restaurant has no private room and I am not sure it is possible for 20 people to spend $1000 on food here. To eat that much food would mean each of the 20 customers would have to weigh like 400 lbs. Alborz has more than Kabobs and the food is real home like cooking. The koresh offerings are wonderful. The Tandoori Chicken is to die for. If you can ding them on anything it is the bread, but that does not make the meal, and they just opened so maybe they will have fresh bread in the future.
I went to albourz with 2 of my clients for dinner. I was fabulous . On a scale from 1-10, I would give them an 8. The lamb dish was not good, but kabob was perfect.
Take your money somewhere else.. I booked this place for my brother’s birthday for 20 people. Even though I called three weeks before and booked the private dining room, they double-booked it, and we were moved to the general dining area. In our initial conversations, they gave me a per person price over the phone ($38), took a $500 deposit and no further pricing/invoice was sent, so I communicated that price to my family coming to dinner. But when the bill came, it was almost $50 per person. It left me and my family unprepared, which is not how we wanted to end an evening, especially an evening that costs $1,000 for 20 people. I had to ask people for more money at the end of dinner, which is awkward and uncomfortable for everyone. For that price, we should have had more than enough food, and we didn’t – some people in our party did not have enough to eat. And then the servers came in and took our food before we were done! They just started clearing plates. I have no idea why that happened. At least 6 people in our party did not finish their dinner. In addition, the tip was added to the taxed amount, which is incorrect. You do not tip on tax. Further, given that the service suffered, a 17% tip was completely inappropriate. When we brought all of this to the manager’s attention, she took $40 off of the over $1,000 bill. Hardly even a gesture. I didn’t want to create a scene, so decided to be done with it and follow up the next day. I contacted the owner who said he would take care of my issues but needed to call me back, and haven’t heard back from him.The staff and setup of the whole evening was geared toward making money off of us and get us out as soon as possible. Not the kind of environment during a meaningful family event. For $1,000, we should have had enough food, great service, and respectful communication and a more accurate per head price before the event. Still waiting to hear from the owner…
