Winner! Very good food, huge portions. This little gem is tucked out of the way off of Leesburg Pike. Friendly, fast, and authentic Chinese (American style) restaurant, complete with occasional slightly disgruntled but funny outbursts in Chinese from the kitchen (we enjoyed them). Food was delicious, served piping hot, and very good flavors. A great go-to place in the area, and again he be portions for what you pay for, so awesome value as well.
My family comes here particularly for the Peking Duck. The duck chef is THE master and we have followed him for years as he has moved restaurants. I sincerely hope he has an apprentice. The pancakes are also homemade (not pre-made tortilla wraps like some restaurants) and the sauce is special. We also order the duck soup with tofu and clear noodles. Fantastic. Call and reserve your duck(s) in advance. The best Peking duck ever. We’ve grown up eating authentic Chinese and tried Peking duck everywhere – China Wok’s beats Sun Wah in Chicago hands down (and the Wall Street Journal listed Sun Wah as one of the top places in the US, Sept. 28, 2012)
OMG – What did I just eat?. That was the worst meal I have had since my wife cooked for me once when we were first dating. I went in for lunch and had the Hot & Sour Soup, and Mushroom Chicken with and egg roll. First the soup: None of the exotic mushrooms and fungi found in other restaurants recipes. It tasted a bit like chemicals. The mushroom chicken came out and all I can say is my plate looked like a giant pile of off-white mush. The entree had what looked like bits of boiled, shaved chicken in a tasteless, very starchy, light sauce with more water chestnuts than chicken and a few snow peas. All of this with a heaping sloppy pile of white rice on top. It had not been for the soy sauce I doused it with, there would have been no flavor at all. My left incisor still hurts because the egg roll was so tough re-cooking it over and over. The texture was kind of chewy in the center and hard on the ends with a saturated greasy denseness. The only thing I could taste was the dirty oil it was last cooked in. Worst Chinese food I have ever had. Needless to say, I did not eat much.
Great Chinese Food. China Wok has been in business many years and the food is always very good and with generous portions. I’ve never had anything here that wasn’t good. Service and food delivery are also very fast.
Go to dining! Fast and delicious in or out. 10+ years, same great food, same family. All quality, very little fancy, which I prefer for casual dining.
Food was ok but not great. Wonton soup and lo mein were a bit bland, but they did deliver fast
A hidden jewel.. A couple of years ago, this was just another run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant with mediocre food. But the recession has hit some of the finer Chinese restaurants in the area quite hard and some of them closed, and in the process this place picked up some of the really top-notch kitchen talent. The most popular menu item these days is the Peking Duck, and at 28$ it is a good deal less expensive than the duck at Peking Gourmet. And like Peking Gourmet, they bring it out to your table and carve it in front of you. And to me it is just as good. But if you want it – especially on a weekend evening, you would be advised to call ahead for a reservation. The place still looks like your hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant, but it does fill up.Don’t limit yourselves to the duck however – there are other authentic dishes on the menu that most other places don’t have and are also quite delicious. Notable to me are the dan-dan noodles and zha jiang noodles (the noodles are homemade). There are many others that sound good that I just haven’t gotten around to trying yet.If you are close enough, they do deliver.
