I rescind my last review. Everytime I have been there the owner/hostess seats us and doesn’t tell the servers. Service was terrible. Everytime the place is busy the service gets worse and the food suffers as well. Sit at the bar or get to go. Or just Order from the bakery. Was a loyal customer but I’m done. Give this place a try, I order the Margherita pizza once a week.
Consistently, the below standard food coming from the Red Mill location is an embarrassment for Italians or anyone with taste buds. Their bruschetta bread is flavorless and stale. No, it’s not the brick fired crust. It’s stale. No one will ever suggest irregularly chunked, under ripe tomatoes (at peak of season) and bruised basil is a bruschetta. There was no olive oil, no garlic, no salt. Just stale bread topped with flavorless, poorly chopped tomatoes and bruised, bitter basil. If your having a bus boy double as a chef, at least hire an Italian bus boy.
Two out of our three meals were wonderful, the third was not very good and left mostly uneaten. When the server came to our table he did not inquire as to why. When he boxed up the other meals and we did not ask for the uneaten meal to be boxed he still did not ask why. Then, we were charged full price while the staff behind the bar was slamming 456 Fish for selling overpriced wine and subpar food. We’ll give it another try at La Bella, and of course we won’t order that particular dish again. We hope that next time the staff will pay more attention to their own place of business.
Great authentic Italian food. Had a great date night here the other day. The servers are always wonderful.
My husband and I loved this restaurant. We stumbled upon it by looking for local restaurants. We knew we wanted pasta before our half marathon and this place did not disappoint! Our waitress, Michelle, was wonderful and extremely helpful in helping us decide from all of the wonderful choices. The service was great and the food came quickly. We intended to go back the next day for pizza, but sadly didn’t make it back. This will definately be on our list of places to eat every time we come to Virginia Beach!!!
Understaffed. Great food, adequate service, very slow kitchen and bar. We visit monthly but have decided to wait a while before returning.
