My husband and I ate at Essy’s Carriage House yesterday, before a show at the Kennedy Center. The food was fabulous, the atmosphere lovely and best of all the service was warm and friendly! The seafood was outstanding!!! Definitely our new favorite restaurant – can’t wait to return. Thank you, Essy and staff.
We’ve always enjoyed Essy’s and it keeps getting better. Easy parking in the rear, a warm greeting from Essy, moderate wine prices and great food make this one of regular weekend spots. I like seafood and have never had better crab cakes. Jumbo lumps of crab, very little filler, and really generous in size. My husband’s more of a steak guy, so he sticks to the New York strip, unless Essy’s made his to-die-for beef stroganoff or lamb shank. Our guests have tried veal, broiled fish, calves liver and lobster tail, all with excellent reviews. We also discovered (after a kitchen mishap!) thatit’s a great place for holiday dinners (we went on Christmas Day!). We’ve beenEssy’s customers for about 10 years now and plan to continue for many more. Just hope that Essy doesn’t plan to retire soon — he’s had this place for about 35 years!
