Rocklands of Arlington Virginia. Bad food, terrible service, arrogant staff, unclean. One of the worst experiences in many of the restaurants. Restaurant has a peculiar smell, like some rotten stuuf. definitely wont recomend to anybody. The food was so fatty and low quality meats. The service was poor. RUDE ARROGANT NIGHT MANAGER. Avoid at all costs. And I am local client.
Get the pearl. The pearl is money and the Bourbon club is a fun challenge
Decent BBQ. Pretty decent BBQ here. North Carolina style, which was a little strange for someone from Alabama. They seemed to have a good selection, the decor was great, and the smell of BBQ was delicious as you approach the building. Overall good place.
ROCKLAND Disappointed. Disappointed-definition: to fail to satisfy the hopes or expectations. You can look it up!My family and I planned this luncheon out today. It was our first time visiting ROCKLANDS BBQ and out of our daily routine. So, of course we were excited to eat out today. We ordered the whole rack baby rack and great sides with spicy wings and drinks. After watching the Football games for 33 minutes, Our food had not come out yet. Of course your thinking why didn’t we say something earlier, well we gave them the benefit of doubt that it would take great food to take this long. So after the bus boy saw us for the 20th time delivering food back and forth to say something. My party was frustrated and we took our hunger some where else.We told the manger just give us our money back. He didn’t offer anything, I guess he was a non-experienced manger. I couldn’t tell if the food was great or not ? It really smelled good! I guess!!Victoria- Disappointed!
You’ve got to be kidding… 24.95 for beef ribs that a chainsaw couldn’t cut threw as they were so tough and undercooked,,,one couldn’t pay the meat to fall off the bone it was so tough. Babyback should actually give back. Boiled maybe before putting on the grill?.. They were smokeless, tasteless and certainly not worth 19.95, then to charge 8.00 for 4 small sides of mashed potato, macaroni salad, collard greens, and corn compote??? Where are the police as I just got robbed!!!
Solid BBQ joint. good food, good atmosphere.
I saw a smoke ring, and it was good.. I’m always on the lookout for a new barbecue place, and this was my first trip to Rocklands. While there were plusses and minuses, it is easily my new go to local barbecue joint. I knew I was in for a treat right from the start when I noticed the big crock of piping hot barbecue sauce. The sauce, by the way is delicious. It is tangy, peppery, and slightly sweet. Some might be disappointed that Rocklands doesn’t offer a few barbecue sauce options, but their signature sauce is so good, I didn’t need anything else. The pulled pork was very good. It could have done a better job of holding on to the smoke flavor but it was not too greasy, had a tasty bark, and the large portion heaped on my roll was more than enough to fill me up. I also tasted the sliced brisket. I thought the brisket actually had a better, more intense smoke flavor, and also had more to it – I’m not sure if this has something to do with a different dry rub or what, but it tasted better. There was also a nice bit of char on the edges, which for me is always a bonus. The only issue I had with the brisket was that it was surprisingly fatty – almost each slice had a stripe of fat running through it. The leaner pieces though, were delicious. Finally on to the most important part – the sides. The coleslaw was fairly standard, but had a good chunky texture and had sweet peas, which were a welcome change. Sweet corn pudding was delicious, but then again, how can you go wrong with soft, sweet, buttery corn goodness? The dark orange mac n cheese was visually a little off putting, but tasted a little better than I expected. It tasted too much like velveeta was the main ingredient, so it’s not great, but if you’re the type who needs mac n cheese when it’s on the menu, its not awful. Unfortunately, the collards were. I am a huge fan of collard greens and crave them with any meal of barbecue, but these were way off. First of all the greens were chopped up very small and overcooked so when you put a forkful in your mouth, it was all a little mushy. I could have dealt with that, but they also tasted quite bad. There wasn’t any smokiness to them, the collard taste had been cooked out, and just tongue numbingly salty – this is saying a lot coming from me, because I like my food very salty. Maybe it was just a bad batch, but I was very disappointed. All in all, it may not be the best barbecue I’ve ever had in my life, but it is very tasty, affordable, and has a fun laid back atmosphere. I will certainly return, and soon.
