The inside needs a serious style update! The host was amazing at anticipating our needs and our server was knowledgeable as well. Our shrimp appetizer was overcooked which was disappointing, my scallop dish (recommended by the server) was quite good and the scallops were perfectly cooked. My friend’s rabbit ragu contained some bones and the polenta it was served on was very stiff and not at all creamy. It wasn’t a horrible meal and I would consider giving Alexander’s another chance but not any time soon
My husband & I had a cocktail reception for our Vow Renewal upstairs at Alexander’s. Wonderful food that kept coming. My guests were so pleased as were we. Boni is a joy to work with. She handles everything with professionalism and a bright smile. Highly recommend.
This is hands down the best restaurant in roanoke. The service is impecible and the food couldnt be more delicious. I always leave in the most wonderful mood that stays with me for days…love this place
Not Customer Friendly. Held a business dinner here. Service and attitude with customers was atrocious. Will not ever return.
Fine Dining…Really?!?. Wow what a disappointing surprise. Had dinner here a few weeks ago because I heard it was a classic downtown restaurant. We were seated at the front table, which turned out to be the best part of the experience as it provides excellent people watching. It took over 15 minutes for the server to take our order. The salad vinaigrette, was heavily laden with oil and an imperceivable amount of acidic high notes. I had the shrimp ettouffee, it had a thick rue (actually it was tasteless, burnt, gray-brown goop) with 5 large shrimp, complete with a dark thick vein that was black full of partially digested grit and grime. The fish monger didn’t do my wife any favors either, as half of the shrimp served with her overcooked filet were complete with shell and legs. The server was mildly apologetic, but did nothing to rectify the situation or adjust my bill. Desert was excellent. I understand now why they say the glace du chocolatat hasn’t left the menu. But what I don’t understand is how this place is still in business if others have the same experience. The meal was expensive, but fairly priced for the promise of finer dining in the valley. But the faults and flaws cannot and should not be excused.
Good food. Crabcakes are fantastic. Price is reasonable.
Alexander’s: Delicious!. We LOVE this restaurant. The food is organic, fresh and delicious. It is beautifully prepared and presented and the tastes are divine. The atmosphere is lovely and classy and the staff is professional and courteous. An evening at Alexander’s is an evening well spent.
