Trashiest, lowest quality meal in a longtime. Wine glass came greasy and smudged. Not sure the rib eye was grade-a meat. Don’t waste your money…this is a placeto go to at the tail end of the night when you’re plastered and need some fries

I think your confused Brittany. Brittany I am the owner of the Village Grill and I am sorry you had a bad experience but I can assure you, you did not talk to me as you stated in your review, as I was not there. You were taken care of and your party was given adequate service. I am sorry picnic tables were not suitable enough for you to sit on considering the rest of the patrons on the bocce court did not have a problem sitting there, nor have any of the thousands of guest we have had out there in the past. The bartender was not drunk like you claimed and people at your table were ID’d. Service did not take as long as you insinuated and your table was adequately checked up on. I am sure at this point you are wondering how would I know this since I was not there. Well we have security cameras constantly monitoring the property for your protection and ours and since you supplied the day you were there and where you were sitting I was able to talk to employees that were there at your time of service and review footage and see what happened. We do appreciate constructive criticism to adapt to our expanding customer base, but we would only ask to keep your reviews to be honest and thought out. Again I am sorry you feel the place is mismanaged and will probably not be back, but we as a restaurant have a right to defend ourselves when we feel the full story of your review is not being relayed.

I just moved to grandin a few weeks before my 21st birthday. I was wanting to try some of the bars in the neighborhood instead of going downtown. Everyone suggested the village grill, said they had great drinks, games, nice atmosphere. I called and made reservations for my party of 10 on Thursday, for my party that following Saturday at 7. When I got to the restaurant I said I have reservations and the host acting like she was confused.the owner then came up and said no I have no reservations in your name. I tried to tell him there must be a mistake and he showed no sympathy and acting like he didn’t care. He finally said you guys can go out to the picnic tables. Furious, but my friend insisted we check it out because they had games back there. It was some what chilly though. When our waitress came she was so rude, never smiled, and took forever. She didn’t even card me or the rest of my friends!!! I could have been drinking there the whole time. The food was ok, and the prices were fair but awful owner and service. Not to mention the bar tender was drunk. Made me feel like I was in a trashy place. I’ve never seen such a poorly managed place. Will probably not go back.

Bad Service, Good Food. My wife and I have eaten at VG a few times and liked it. Last night, 9/9/11, we and friends went to VG and had a horrible experience. The service was appallingly bad. It took 2 hours to get hamburgers and a sandwich. It was a Friday night so yes it was busy, but inside, where we sat, was not full and outside was. There were at least 4 servers, plenty to handle the number of patrons. It took forever to get drinks. It took forever for the server to return so we could order appetizers; one we did we were ready to order our entrees too, but she said she’d put in the apps and come right back … 20 minutes later. I had to flag her down with a menu in the air. To get a second beer I had to go to the bar and order it. (Note: the bartendress was the only employee who demonstrated any kind of efficiency, and courteously brought us free chips and salsa to placate our friends’ daughter who was about to die of starvation.) The server finally apologized and claimed there were only 2 cooks working. Surely 2 cooks can handle the food service for 40-50 people w/ no problem, as members of our party who had worked in restaurants attested. It turned into a comedy, really, the excuses, which were parried w/ good-natured sarcasm instead of complaints. The endless apologies, most hurried and insincere, only made the dining experience worse. And where was the manager during all this? Nowhere to be seen. Did we ask to speak with him? No. We shouldn’t have had to; he should have been handling out free drinks and sincerely apologizing for the sluggish kitchen. If indeed 2 cooks is not enough for a Friday night, he should have rolled up his sleeves and stepped in to help or had more help come in. And we were not alone: the people next to us, who arrived at the same time, did not even have their food when we LEFT!!! One thing that did come to our table in a timely manner was the check, of course. It was a tough decision, determining what to tip, for this disaster was all the work of the manager, really. Still, if 4 servers can’t handle no more than 40-50, that’s pretty lame, and not an excuse for bad service in terms of drinks, fill-ups and timeliness of ordering, etc. On a positive note: the food, once we got it, was good. Will we eat there again? I don’t know. I hope last night is the last time anyone has to deal with such bad service.

In love with this place. Love love love the village grill. they have great food and a very friendly staff. they all work very hard to go the extra mile. i think some of the people that gave their reviews were confused as to where they were at!!!!

AWFUL OWNER!!!! BEWARE!!!!!. Used to think Village Grill was a cool and fun place to hang out. That was until last night, when the owner showed just what a jerk he is. Enjoying great band (Grass Monkey)…..everyone having a blast. Apparently, there was one male patron who caused damage to a wall AWAY from where the band was playing and the owner decided to make the brilliant decision to shut the band down in the middle of their song. He made it clear in no uncertain terms, that it was the bands fault for the actions of some drunk guy in the back playing pool. How idiotic. Despite a full bar of patrons enjoying the band. Clearly mismanaged place. Not to mention, he got aggressive with patrons that were upset because they were there to see the band. Complete control freak! DO NOT PATRON THIS BAR!!!!!!!! We will never go to this place again.
