Seafood Baked In Parchment Paper. Loved it! Great flavorLast night in Williamsburg and we obviously saved the best for last. Great dinner and service (unimpressed with my mixed drink…tasted like koolaid). I had the seafood parchment special (talapia, scallops, spinich, squash, tomatoes and zucchini). It was awesome! M had his usual strip…only mashed potatoes (which he hates) and he very much enjoyed it.We both had apps and desserts. Good she crab soup (me) and a very yummy shrimp cocktail for M. I had the dessert special of strawberry shortcake…the biscuit was very tough to eat (rubbery) but the strawberries we obviously local and fresh which made the dish. M had the Boston Creme wrap (looked like egg rolls). I did try a bite and the flavor was good.

Review. Sat outside, very pleasant. Had swordfish (cooked perfectly) and blue plate special also very good. Tryseafood cheesecake, sounds disgusting, is really quite good. Great waiter. With drinks, cheesecake and shared desert about $100 but could get away with less
SUCH A MEAL!!. There aren’t many restaurants we can say that we would return to; but Berret’s is one of our top 3 favorite restaurants in Hampton Roads!!! We had visited a week before Christmas and the atmosphere was enchanting! We didn’t have reservations, but they seated us very shortly after our arrival. We enjoyed very creative cocktails in the bar until our name was called. The waiter was very attentive but not smothering, and had extensive knowledge of the wine list and menu items. I enjoyed the salmon in parchment with shrimp skewers, he had the mahi in parchment with scallops. We ended up switching plates half way through the meal as the dishes were too good not to share! The portions were perfect and the prices were very reasonable. I highly encourage the last reviewers to come back and give it a second try! I live in Chesapeake and definitely would make the drive out to Williamsburg to eat here again.
Friend tried to make reservations for party of 4 at 6pm, but was informed they could only do 5:45pm? Upon arrival it was dead. Anyways we got seated for dinner and were informed that our waiter was new, and they were showing someone new how to do things. I didn’t mind at first but then he was left unattended and seemed to make things up as he went instead of ask for help. We ordered a $30 bottle of prosecco, #10 on their wine list and remember as I had to call it out by number. One friend wanted the crab cakes dinner but wanted it to come with a side of veggies the waiter informed it wasn’t included so she ordered something else, later found out that it already comes with vegetables kinda burned on of the party members. They never came back to check on this kid or the customers so the service was lousy. I understood but when spending a few hundred you would expect better service, if he was training he should of been shadowed or tested first. Food was pretty bland (ravioli especially). Seafood was overdone, skrimp was stuck to skewer dry. She crab soup was crabby in a fishy way not good. Would of bought another bottle if I was even asked? Poor service and poor food is not a good combo. Seems like management and training problems as it seemed like it could have potential.
Stay away from the ravioli05 Sep, 2013Food too bland. It was way to expensive
Lackluster cooking combined with pushy service combined to make Berret’s a disappointing experience. Flounder I had was overcooked and served with a meager portion of rice and accompanying sauce.
