This is without a doubt the best eatery that I have ever been at in a historical site or a theme park! The period-inspired food here is fabulous, as it fuses the modern with the old world. They don’t offer reservation for lunch, so a table for two was a thirty minute wait, but well worth it.
Chowning Experience. Had dinner here – big mistake – the dinner offerings – a steak – chicken – salmon/ with crab and two flat breads all that is offered. You would think with the very limited menu they could at least do them well. Had the salmon – over cooked (dry) the crab just ok. – total lack of any seasoning. My wife got the vegetable flat bread and neither one of us finished our entrees. I know part of it is the experience but for a $29 entree you can do much better in Williamsburg. This might be a ok lunch place but would never return for dinner.
Meh. It reminded me of cafeteria food at best. They served instant mashed potatoes and had the termerity to charge $29 for the lamb. After that meal we cancelled all other reservations on the property for the week and got salads and fried chicken at the local grocer. Our dinner bill went from $120 a night to about $9 and we went shopping instead. Great place to visit but don’t eat at any place on the grounds.
We ate dinner here after spending the day touring CW and just before the ghost tour. The wait staff was personable and the atmosphere was unique. The Welsh Rarebit with salty VA ham was a nice way to start off! They also had several unique tap beers – one of which reportedly which came from a Jeffersonian recipe… The main courses were enjoyable and well prepared. I had the lamb and was pleased. The prices, well… You have to accept that you are paying for a unique experience! The food seems similar to the King’s Arms and Christina Campbell’s, but at a little better price.
Great lunch. My wife and I both ordered the BBQ short rib sandwich. What an amazing dish! The andmeat was quite tasty, and the pickled onions and peppers added an unexpected layer of flavor. I also HIGHLY recommend the root beer! Our server was fantastic, and the atmosphere was very friendly.
Came here for the Gambols. Loved the music and board games. Food was good overall but the spucy wings should come with a fire extinguisher.
Pretty nice. Went for the Gambols at 9pNot real rowdy but good ale and homemade ciderMusic and singing was very niceNo games 🙁
