What a lovely breakfast we had. We both opted for the breakfast buffet. It had many traditional items and some unique touches of twists and changes to french toast, etc.It is not cheap but if you want a fine dining experience, this is truly one of those experiences. We loved it.
Reborn. 20 years ago as a…. Reborn.20 years ago as a very young man, I visited the Regrncy Room for the most spectacular meal I had ever had.It went steadily down hill from there. The last time before this evening was 2008 during which it was essentially inedible.I returned tonight just to see. So glad I did. Yes, even 20 years later I was still the youngest person in the room. But just like I returned, so did the Regency Room. My daughter had the chicken that I’ve dreamed of so often but didn’t see again until tonight. The chateaubriand was excellent as well.Make sure you ask for Reggie to serve you. Simply the finest I’ve had from Boston to Boca to Manhattan.Come back. It’s waiting. I’m so happy I did.
Awesome Birthday Dinner. We celebrated my mother’s 70th birthday here, and I have to write to say what a wonderful job the staff did to make it a truly memorable occasion. Even with a large wedding going on next door, the kitchen and the wait staff didn’t miss a beat. We even special ordered a double-chocolate birthday cake from the Inn and it was truly one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. Other menu items we tried were superb as well.
Took special out of our special occasion. I made a reservation at The Regency Room months in advance for a party of 14 for my daughters wedding. I called several times to be sure everything was going to go smoothly. I asked how long the band would play and was assured they would not stop until we finished dinner or until the dining room was empty. I asked if the band would announce the new bride and groom and again was assured this was no problem. I let them know we were bringing our own cake and they said they would charge a plate fee. Fair enough. When we arrived and asked for the band to announce the new bride and groom they said the band refused. Why, I asked. They had told me on the phone it was not a problem. They asked again, and again the band refused. In the meantime, my daughter and her new husband are getting embarrassed and it became uncomfortable. When we arrived at our table we found they had put us at separate tables of 7. This was a small wedding party and they never mentioned setting us up like that. It took several attempts and talking to many people before we were allowed to push the tables together! Then the band stopped playing while we were still eating dinner after already breaking for what seemed like 10 minutes every 30 minutes. Finally, the food was over-priced and not good, the wine was over- priced, and the hostess was rude. At $100 per person, $1400.00 total, you would think they would be more accommodating. They were not even busy! The only thing they kept their word on was the fact they did in fact charge us a plating fee for bringing our own cake! I suggest celebrating anywhere else but here.
The Regency Dining room is a place where golfers, widows/widowers and stuffy business folks aged 60-death come to have over-priced food and be waited on hand and foot. Aside from the very cheerful wait staff, this place is too stuffy, over-priced an out-dated to be enjoyable. Want brunch? Try the Blue Talon. Want an outstanding dinner? Try the Fat Canary or even Christiana Campbell’s. There are too many good places to eat around Williamsburg to waste your time here.
Diamond in the Rough!!. The posh Regency Dining Room has had a reputation of being a classic delight for many years. Recently I have been to the Inn 4 times in the past 3 months and have had AMAZING experiences each time!! The Culinary staff go above and beyond on each of their dishes, and the flavor combinations are nothing short of perfection. A true dining experience!
