Chef who crafted his work in some of DC’s best French provincial restaurants has a lovely gem in Winchester. We ordered some good French wine and enjoyed his mussels, salads, and an terrific spicy north African sausage dish with shrimp! Chef also makes his own desserts. We enjoyed an outstanding Apple Tart and icecream, a Cheesecake.Prices are very reasonable.
To find better French Cusine you would have to go to Paris France not Paris VA.Frederic Is the most gracious owner of a restaurant I have ever been to. Excellent food and service. What more could you ask for!!!! Also great atomosphere. Close your eyes and you are in Paris!!!
C’est magnifique!. I was travelling by myself for a job interview in Gainesville and headed to Old Town Winchester late Sunday morning on my journey back to upstate NY. Coincidentally, I ran into the owner, Frederic, while looking at a sign for his restaurant. He proceeded to lead e to his cafe…so lovely! He set myself and my papillon dog at a little table outside. He even brought my dog his own dish! He also put on some French music which just added to the ambiance. I ordered la salade nicoise…omg…it was almost too beautiful to eat. It was so delicious. I then ordered the chocolat cake to go…MMM! Beyond delicious. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. I am very grateful to Frederic for making me feel welcome and comfortable…traveling singly can be very lonely! Thank you!!!!!!!!!
Tooooo Gooood. This was the first time we were here. We are already making plans to go back. We started out with the Brie and Plum Tart, then we wanted to try the Pate, Both very very good. We both got the Beef Wellington, It was beyond Excellent. Everything we got was excellent. And of course we had to try some dessert, so we got the Apple Tart with Ice Cream and the Chocolate Mousse. Just couldn’t get any better.
Really liked it. The owner and family were very friendly and explained the dishes on the menu in detail. The food was excellent – I had a snapper special with leeks, rice and ratatouille. I also had a spicy sausage and mushroom appetizer and a seasonal berry bread pudding. Both of those were outstanding as well. I look forward to going back!
Excellent French restaurant. The owner loves to talk and joke with customers, keeping it much more informal than most quality French restaurants. Wonderful food, with many recipes from the owner’s 80-year-old mother, including an incredible eggless quiche.
