Hands down THE BEST BBQ!. We’re a military family who unfortunately only had a year to enjoy this restaurant, as often as possible. I was pregnant for the bigger part of that year so everything they had on their menu was one of my cravings. Especially everything covered in the Tennessee bbq sauce! The only gripe I have is that there is literally no other place that comes close to the awesomeness that is served there :-(We’ve tried to find more in NC, MD and now SC. Please branch out to these other states so that they can understand that the food they are currently labeling as smoked or barbecued is really just bland and over cooked! Especially branch out to the lowcountry of SC. We’re so deprived out here 🙁

Disappointing!. The County Grill York COunty location) had been high on my list of restaurants until lat night. I was looking forward to some of their excellent smoked beef brisket, pit roasted vegetables, and collard greens. After being seated we were told about their Texas Trio special, which was supposed to include smoked beef brisket, smoke sausage and pulled pork barbeque along with two sides. All four of us order the special, with pit roasted vegetables as one of the sides. My wife and I chose the collard greens as the second side. When the food arrived, we were told that they were out of the end portions of the smoked brisket and had substituted pulled smoked chicken. When I said that I had been keen on getting some brisket they said they would bring some brisket strips. It was immediately obvious that the roasted vegetables were almost raw, and nothing like the dish that we had come to enjoy and expect at the County Grill. Then we found that the collards were very salty – too salty for my wife. When the brisket strips arrived, they were cooked and edible, but were not like the smoked brisket that we had enjoyed in brisket order previously there. The pulled chicken was good, and the smoked sausage was smoked to a dark brown color on the outside and tasted good when eaten with some collards. The Texas Trio is way too much food for most people to eat in one sitting so we took a lot home. Later in the evening, I cut a small piece of the smoked sausage for a snack. When I bit into it by itself, I discovered that although the outside was well smoked and tasty, the center of the sausage was completely raw! It must have been frozen hard when they threw it on the grill.I don’t know what is going on at the County Grill, but it better get its act back together!

County Grill saved our date night. After a disappointing attempt at dinner at a nearby restaurant, my husband and I headed over to County Grill. There was a short wait which we spent at the bar enjoying a pint of my favorite brew. Once we were seated, our server (Sam, who was delightful) brought us delicious cornbread and promptly took our order since we were starving and had already had an opportunity to look over the menu while at the bar. I ordered the County Grill burger which was cooked perfectly and tasted like magic and my hubby had the barbecued shrimp. The food was amazing. I ate way too much. I’m ok with that.

Seriously?. Are we talking about the same place? I’d give it two out of five stars for the benefit of the doubt. The food was OK. The fries were old/cold, my husband said the beans were undesirable, but I did like the cornbread. What really made out trip awful was the service. When we showed up we stood in the entry waiting for help so long that we almost left. But the reviews were so good and I wanted to stay, so I walked up to the bartender and asked what we were supposed to do. We finally got a table and the waitress was sub par. She checked on us while still walking by and didn’t give a refill until we were ready to go. Had it been a busy night, I might understand but the place was only half full. Overall, I wish we hadn’t gone so far out for this and think its ratings are undeserved.

Everything was great. Pulled pork was the best I have ever had. Onion rings were also outstanding.

It’s hard to find good brisket in Hampton Roads, but County Grill and Smikehouse has it. It is not often that I like everything I ordered. A new favorite.
