  I was over in Newport News last weekend helping my mother find a new car and when it was time for lunch I decided to give the Yorktown location of the County Grill a try. I’ve been to their Hampton location several times over the years and felt pretty good about trying out what I’m told is their original location. We popped in around 1pm and the place was just starting to clear out a bit from their lunch crowd. There was no wait at all and we were immediately seated by the hostess. Likewise our server was there immediately to drop off menus and silverware and take our drink order. He returned a couple moments later with the drinks and a basket of corn muffins. I ordered the Pork Shoulder BBQ Sandwich. It comes with 2 sides so I added Fries and Collards. Mom ordered the same except she had the Sweet Potato fries with her meal. After a short wait, our lunches arrived. I had warned Mom that it was going to be a lot of food and while she was expecting a big lunch she wasn’t prepared for the sheer size of her sandwich. The BBQ as always was delicious. I finished my meal, Mom ate about half of hers and boxed the rest. We also tucked the remaining corn muffins in her box. We were in and out of there in about an hour and back out to the car dealerships after that. All in all, a great visit. Pros: Friendly, Clean, Fast Service, Great Food. Cons: None. If you’re yearning for some BBQ, check them out if you’re in Yorktown or Hampton.

  Great ribs, and pork bbq. They have 5 or 6 types of bbq sauces that you can choose from, try the kansas city! The side items are great, something you’d expect from a good bbq place, but the atmosphere is cool and they have a great beer selection.

  I really like this place. I live in Texas and come to visit family and requested to go here bc I’ve been before. I love the ambiance, I love the craft beer selection and I love that they do 6 kinds of bbq sauce. And I rolled the dice and ordered a tuna steak and it was cooked perfectly. My uncle let me try his brisket and it was fantastic, and keep in mind, I’m from Texas. My mom had pulled pork that was very tasty but a tad dry, but great with sauce. But I have to say this. The baked beans. THE BAKED BEANS!!!!!! Dear lord, they were spectacular!!!! My only real complaint was that they sat me and my family, literally right next to, a party room and they were so loud that my ears were ringing when we left. It wasn’t the only table available so I’m not being bitchy, the hostess at was off talking to someone for a good 5 minutes before she came to seat us. They didn’t give us beer or wine lists and the menus were barely holding together. So I had to go over to the bar to see what they had. But the food was as great of not better than I remember the last time I visited. In fact I’m probably going to go again before I go back to Texas to get those beans. All in all really great place, but I did not enjoy sitting outside of an extremely loud party room. I would have preferred to sit in the patio if the hostess had even asked out preference. So if I go back I will make sure I request to be as far from the party room as possible.But with food that tasty, I can deal.
